DENVER -- Carmelo Anthony has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police say the Denver Nuggets forward was arrested early Monday on Interstate 25. He was pulled over for weaving and failing to dim his lights.

Detective Sharon Hahn says Anthony failed a series of sobriety tests. He was ticketed and released at the scene, but Hahn does not know how he got home.

Anthony is due in court on May 14.

The Nuggets said they are aware of the situation but declined comment.

so he was arrested....but ticketed and allowed to leave the scene...

and the officer doesn't know how he got home? this doesn't make sense to me. I'm no DUI expert, apparently.

Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, Denver police said.

Anthony was driving south on Interstate 25 at around 4 a.m. when he was pulled over and taken into custody. Denver police said he was driving a silver Mercedes and was stopped for failing to drive in a single lane and failing to dim lights. Several Denver media outlets reported that he was given a Breathalyzer test.

"We are aware of the situation with Carmelo Anthony," the Nuggets said in a statement, adding that they are gathering information and have no further comment.

Anthony's lawyer confirmed that the forward was released on bond later Monday morning and a summons appearance was scheduled for May 14.

"He cooperated by consenting to a blood test, the results of which will not be available for approximately two weeks," attor

Easy answer, he's Carmello Anthony.

I got a DUI once, doing 35 MPH in and 35 MPH.
Nassau County Long Island cops said I touched the yellow line (not crossed it, but barely touched it).

Bare in mind, I'm in my 40's, prior to that I have never been in trouble of any thing, clean as a whistle, not even a jay-walking ticket.

Judge ordered $2,000 bail, 1,000 plus more in fees and fines, loss of license 6 months, and ordered 10 weeks of counselling.

This story makes me puke.

It happens, a local got two DUI's in an hour recently. Arrested, processed quick, released, got in his other car, went back to work ( security guard).

I think the cops gave him a ride home, and it was Mercedes.

People are released on the scene all the time folks. Friends, relatives, aunts uncles are called to the scene and allowed to transport them home. The story just doesn't say that's what happened.

I hardly think the norm is released on the scene, maybe the vehicle, rarely the driver.

Accused should normally be printed and photographed and such.

With out more information it's hard to tell. Let me tell you what released on the scene means in my world. They get run through the field sobriety tests, taken to jail, administratively booked, blow into the BAC Datamaster, phone call to mommy/daddy aunt uncle and out the door they go. Sometimes they are required to post some bail.

I've had a couple of DUI in my day.... usually hold you like a good 5+hours, not no 1 hour stuff. I was held 8 days in Vegas !

I never got Express service !

I think normal is at least enough time to get your BAC under .08. Very embarrasing to release a guy and have him get another one in an hour !

Read the second news report which is more detailed and indicates Anthony was in fact taken into custody and released when he posted bond.

DENVER -- NBA star Carmelo Anthony was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police said the Denver Nuggets forward was arrested on Interstate 25. He was pulled over for weaving and failing to dim his lights.

Detective Sharon Hahn said Anthony, who was alone in the car, failed a series of sobriety tests. He was arrested and charged with DUI, then transported to police headquarters before being released "to a sober responsible party," Hahn said.
Anthony, 23, is due in court on May 14.

Mark Warkentien, the Nuggets vice president of basketball operations, said the team was aware of the situation but declined comment.

Anthony apologized through his attorney, Dan Recht.

"Carmelo apologizes to his fans, the Denver community, his teammates and the Nuggets organization for the distraction this is causing them," Recht said.

He said Anthony consented to a blood test but results won't be available for about two weeks.

Monday's arrest was not Anthony's first run-in with trouble.

Last season, he was involved in the brawl at Madison Square Garden. After J.R. Smith was collared on his way to a breakaway bucket in the closing minutes of a rout, Anthony, then the league's leading scorer, dropped the New York Knicks' Mardy Collins with a punch that cost him a 15-game suspension.

In February, Anthony was ticketed in Arapahoe County for driving 25 mph over the posted speed limit. A hearing is set for next month in that speeding case.

Denver will claim the final berth in the NBA's Western Conference playoffs Monday night if Golden State loses at Phoenix.
