I know this might be a dumb question and a dumb idea but why doesnt vegas allow an individual to call in bets even if they are from a different state? I know sportsbetting is only legal in vegas but they can still legally mail you a check to your home as long as you placed your bet in the casino. It just seems to me that this would be a ton of extra revenue to the city because it would allow people to bet on games from their homes and not have to worry about how legit an offshore book is. Like I said this may be a dumb question but can anyone shed some light on the subject for me? Thanks

Casinos don't give a rats ass about their sportsbooks.

They would rather not even have them on their property as the take is squat compared to what their taking on the casino floor.

Your asking them to risk more for less and having to hire more writers and so forth.

This is why you see a lot of properties leasing out their sports action to Leroy's and such.

Google "the wire act" or "wire act - interstate sportsbetting" or "wire act - illegal betting" and you should come up with it.

Combine that with the fact that sportsbetting, even offshore, has been declared illegal in some states.

And that Nevada's sportsbooks are only legal for betting WITHIN the state of Nevada.

I could be mistaken, but I thought Bally's used to take phone bets for local residents. Is this still true and what is the setup?
