It takes 4 months to get a passport in the US? How is that possible?

I applied for one in Canada and was told it would be "up to 4 weeks", which I thought was unacceptable. But I got it in 2.

If you need one in a hurry try this place. Sorry I don't have any useful info.

I just got one last month. Regular service is estimated at 6 weeks but that was gonna cut it to close for me so I chose the 'expedite' option for another $60 or so. (cuts it to 2-3 weeks).

You can get the photos done at most UPS stores and then submit the app. at any passport location (including many post offices). I went to the County building since I had to go there anyway to get a certified copy of my Birth Cert.

Everything you need to know here:

BTW, that link has an application wizard that ask you a bunch of questions and then spits out a PDF of a completed application ready to sign and attach photos.

Just got one myself through the PO - took just over one week. Wouldn't waste the money on expediting it.

i had a passport but lost it sometime, so when i studied abroad, i procrastinated like shit on looking for it and went to the post office like 20 days before i had to fly to europe (literally, mightve even been 16-17days). they had an option for "expedited processing" where i believe i paid an extra $60-80. and i got it within 2 weeks.
