Francis has been awful. It's work it, IMO, to play this at around -170 with such a huge pitching mismatch. 2 units on SD -167.

The Padres' starting pitching is going to make moneyline bets attractive all season, even with odds very high. At the same time, they're going to be very iffy on runline bets. They just don't have enough offense. San Diego is going to be involved in lots of tight games in 2008.

Just for fun, I made a pair of very small bets on tonight's game with Peavy: one on SD moneyline, another on Colorado runline. That's not a strategy I would at all advise, but it's been fun listening to this game on the Web -- I like my chances of hitting both ends.

The O/U would have to be very low to make me want to bet the Over on a game at Petco. That park is a pitcher's dream.

Great place to watch a ballgame, too.
