Alright. Not a big deal but I'd rather not shock myself here. I have a 95 Acura and I am installing a new deck and I can't for the life of me remember whether I take the negative off first or the positive. My friends are telling me two different things. Anyone know for sure? It's only a little jolt but I'd rather not deal with it.

Okay cool. I have some people telling me it didn't matter, some say positive, some negative. I'm just gonna take the ground off first and hope for the best.

Your right, but the two can touch after the battery is out (No power). When you put it in is the time to be careful. Negative on black and positive on red.

I have always taken red then black off first, and then red and black on last. Just my way i guess, never any problems.

You could also just take the fuse out.

If you start taking off the pos. side 1st with a metal wrench you can accidently touch part of the car frame and get a spark. That's why you always take the neg. off 1st. With neg off, no accidental spark occurrs. Also when you put the new one in, do pos 1st, then neg so you eliminate any accidental spark if the wrench touches the car frame.

Cars are my hobby and to answer that question.........always remove the ground cable first (black) and hook it back last.

My mom always told me when frying fish to cut it down to ten inches first. When I asked why, she said that's what her mom always told her.

I asked my grandmother why she gave that advice and she said it was because her mother told her to always do it that way.

Got a chance to see my 97 year old great grandmother at a family reunion and I asked her why it was important to always cut the fish down to ten inches.

And she told me, "All I ever had was a 10" skillet".

What fuse? The battery retains power independent of any fuses.

fuse from the radio

Oh...sorry I overlooked your mention that this was to facilitate installation of a new master blaster in your '89 Datsun 240Z
