Most OVERPAID player in baseball?

I have to start this conversation after watching the Phils this season. And of course...my nominee is Ryan Howard.

$10 million for 28 strikeouts (on pace for somewhere around 230, which will shatter the record he set last year). Not to mention, he weighs over a half a bill more than his batting average. His BA is even worse with runners in scoring position...and he's a poor fielder to boot.

Please...humor me with your nominees.

I dont have a problem with guys like Howard making big money. He will be fine. My problem lies with all of these shitbags (mainly pitchers) who go 6-14 with a 5.08 ERA and then sign a deal that pays them $4.5 million per year. Its contracts like these that I am in awe of.

Like Eric Gagne, I read he is making 10 million. What? Who was lined up to pay 9 million?

I cant believe no one has said Andruw Jones yet.

I HAVE to throw in my favorite loser: Barry Zito. What a joke. He is in the 20 million area.

It has to be Giambi, wow I had no clue he was making that much. The entire Yankee squad besides A-rod, Cabrera, Cano (whose sucked so far) is on the downswing of their careers position player wise anyways. I just wonder what Billy Beane would do with a a payroll. That is the question I ask why has no other team stepped up and grabbed this guy?

Wow...good pulls on those salaries. 23 million for Giambi. I thought we had it bad in Philly. 10 mil for Howard is nothing compared to that. These salaries are ridiculous...keep them coming.

There are so many guys in baseball. At least in basketball, the guys that generally make the most, perform every year.

There are so many contracts in baseball that I always question. I always felt that Hudson was the best of him, zito, and mulder.

Many teams are unable to properly evaluate talent. Red Sox seem to get rid of players at the right time.

I didn't even understand the signing, they had no offense the past few years. The team has become a Triple A stop in the NL west.
