for the Sox so far this year and yet theSox are still dominating. That has to be scary for the rest of the American league. Bucholz and Ellsbury will play much better as time goes on and they get more acclimated to the major league level. I wish we had another stud like Schilling because he will be missed but the Sox doing well even with some slow starters this year. peace.

And if you are not in mid season form, then everyone has something to be worried about.

5/5 Red Sox just swept Tampa. Are 20-13, playing .600 ball, and have the best record in the Al though it is close. Still Ortiz has been injured, Beckett not into Form, Lowell not yet hitting etc etc. Just wait.

Tom, I love the kids. I love all the young guys with the small salarys.

Then you put them with the vets, this team is fun to watch.

Great mix of players.

Not for nothing

But David Ortiz now has 5 homers and 24 RBI with a .216 BA.

He has the most RBI by AL DHs and one behind Jim Thome in homers for AL DHs. His average is third among AL DHs Behind Jack Cust and Garrett Anderson. He is also tied for 2nd (Kevin Millar) with 25 total hits behind Garrett Anderson with 27.

lol, I had to look it up too. Maybe steriods were more important then we wanted to believe.
<!-- / message -->

Has to be lack of steroids that at the end of April 2008 all of the DHs are hitting around .200 combined right.

On May 5th 2007 David Ortiz went 0 for 5 against the Minnesota Twins - steroids or not.

.216 BA?

Steriods?! I don't think so. Ortiz is just plain big.

Ever watch him bat? He's not ripped, he's just a big dude.

Meanwhile, the Yankees with 3 starters, no A-Rod, no Posada, Jeter on the shelf for a period of time, are only 3 games back.

Wait until NY gets in midseason form.

That is all.

I never write the Yanks off. I make it a point not to talk heavy smack about them. They are always a threat.

If Olerud didnt get injured...

Agree again Funk. Neve count the Yanks out. Last year still made quite a run. Sox won it all however.
