As a Kansas resident my whole life yes we have some open roads, however i think one of the best open road drives i have ever been on was when i drove from lawrence to Nemo, South Dakota in the black hills, i took I-70 to Salina then headed North and eventually ended up on North Highway 2 which took me through the west half of Nebraska... I went 100mph for 2 hours without seeing another car, road was in great condition and the scenary was beautiful... Here is a photo i took with my phone as i was cruising along
