Yesterday I had the White Sox minus 1.5 runs. The game was suspended after 12 innings tied 3-3. My ticket was graded a loser. I disagree with this. I thought my wager should be canceled.

General rule of thumb for totals and run line bets.

When betting on the total runs (over/under) the game must go 9 innings (8½ if the home team is ahead) to have action. Wagers on total runs will be refunded if a pitcher change occurs prior to both listed pitchers throwing at least one pitch. Rules for the run line wagers are the same as those for baseball totals.

So your telling me if yesterdays total was 6.5 runs, eventhough the score ended 3-3 under bettors win and over bettors lose eventhough its impossible for the final score to land under 6.5 runs. Those rules suck. Same scenario if a game gets called after 6 innings of a 10-5 game. Total bets are refunded eventhough over bettors were clear cut winners and under bettors already lost. stupid, stupid, stupid!

I imagine some of the greatest bad beats have occured because of these rules.

A little better explanation that has been around for a long time.

When wagering on total runs (over/under) the game must go nine innings (8-1/2 if the home team is ahead) to have action.

If a game is called, or suspended, the score will be determined after the last full inning (unless the home team score to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the score is determined at the time the game is called).

Rules for the run line wagers are the same as those for baseball totals. Wagers on total runs will be refunded if a pitching change occurs prior to both listed pitchers throwing at least one pitch.

Tuff beat for run line layers, righteous win for run line takers.

You can't get too upset, you needed a two+ run homer to payout.

The rules need to be changed. The "RULES OF ASUMPTION" should be implemented. Say I bet over 8.5 runs. After 1 inning of play we have a 4-4 score. 8 more innings of scoreless baseball are played and than it begins to rain and game is suspended tied 4-4 after 9 innings. One can assume that 1 team has to score another run in order to win. Common sense tells you the final score of the game will be over 8.5 runs. I believe most bettors would like this rule. It's a no brainer. Please lets adopt the Rules of Assumption authored by ZEEMAN.:dancefool

Good luck with that but the last thing we need is a situation like tennis

You're absolutely right, I'm not upset just looking for some free money. I'm upset about pushing the money line. Sox had a 2-1 lead going to the top of 9th with one of the best closers in baseball"Bobby Jenks" entering. Sox also left 12 men on base versus 2 for the Orioles. I should have won both bets easily, but that never happens!:nopityA:

If you had asked me if it was possible to win U8.5 after the score is 4-4 I would have said no. I guess I would have been wrong!

Makes for a good trivia question. Common sense alone indicates how stupid this rule is.

Free Money. Just think how much sweeter it could have been. Score could have been 4-4. Congratulations!:money8:

IMO speaking about betting run lines only and not totals.

Laying 1.5 runs in this game made you a good sized dog to win anyway as the only thing that could win it for you would be a 2,3 or 4 run walk off homer provided Baltimore did not score anymore runs in their half of the innning that was never played.

A worse beat would be for players holding tickets with plus 1.5 runs on the Orioles and tied 3-3 in extra innings only to have their bets cancelled because the game was called due to rain in the top of the 12th.

I don't know the exact percentages but I would guess players holding tickets with plus 1.5 runs on games that go into extra innings win a fairly high percentage of the time when the game actually has a final decision one way or another.

One of my best nonlosses ever was a rainout a few years back. TEX/OAK I had under 9. Texas scored 17 runs, it started down pouring in the top of the 9th, they didn't play the bottom of the 9th, it was refunded. Teams scored 23 or 25 runs combined.
