I have no clue on this. I know sports and gambling a little but not this. Did he know for sure what he was doing with that hand sign? Was it a gang sign or can it be interpreted into something else? Is the NBA right for sure with that 25k fine or just being careful? Anyone have thoughts. I figure some young gang punk (Skins Raj comes to mind) can shed some light. Feedback is appreciated. Thanks men!

Yea it's the Piru Bloods' sign from the area where he grew up in LA. That's what I've heard anyway.

Word coming out of Boston is that the sign meant "Blood, sweat, and tears" though...

Some responses from another forum:

"He's not throwing up a gang sign, what an idiot. He's representing his team. For all the analytical dummies, there is a saying in Boston "three's & trees." Meaning adidas & timberlands is what they wear on there feet (besides sneakers they're being paid to wear) It sounds dumb but its to the point where it stands for Boston not a gang member symbol from LA. Its the same as people lifting their jersey or pounding their chest. Fine them too. "

"I live in Inglewood... He threw up a Blood neighborhood gang sign..Come on Paul your smarter than that.. Dont turn the NBA into the ING..Just becuz you grow up around gangsters, it does not make you a gang member..He is a millionaire, with bodyguareds and choufers..Never put in work.Never shot or stabbed anyone.Doin shit like that is what got him stabbed up in that club in Boston..Where was his gang when that happened? The moral is:Watch what you do when your out of your hood. This aint the 80's"

Some good feeback. Thanks. Still conflicting views but given that Pierce was responding to that Hortford and his words...it sure did not look friendly to me. If that gesture meant nothing then why do it at that time. Thanks.

Also that is not what got him in trouble in a club years ago. By all accounts some girls were digging him because he was paul Pierce and the boyfriends of those girls were not happy and went after Pierce. Those guys were total criminals too. Pierce is not and has been a good citizen here.

Nobody would be in Boston would be upset if it was Bird, McHale, or Cracker O'Leary doing that

No way Larry would throw up the Bloods sign. He's more of a Cryp.

Its a hand gesture to signify the teams' montra all season:

Blood...Sweat...and Tears

No need to to imply everything else...its been the notion all season long.

The sign Peirce held up according to the list KingBill posted is B.K.

I bet what he really meant was he wanted a Whopper with fries after the game and Horford was buying.
