I have a buddy who plans to go to NYC in July with his brother to take in a Yankee game and do some sightseeing. So far hotels are $300 to $275 a night. Is there any alternative for cheaper rooms? New Jersey? Thanks for any suggestions.

Was in NYC last November. The Bronx seems to have the cheapest rooms out there which is not too convenient for sightseeing Manhattan but great for Yankees games.

thanks PA... I believe they will just spend the one game at Yankee Stadium...He's checking out New Jersey right now. How can anyone afford to live in that city?

DON'T STAY IN THE BRONX. IF YOU CAN'T SWING NYC, (and their are great deals alot on hotels.com and the like) go to North Jersey like Jersey City/Fort Lee and very easy to get to the Stadium and the City from there.

look for Hilton Millenium...so far, no matter when I reserved the room, it has been $199 all the time.
