still made sense, many of the major attacks were a few years ago, and blamed on the Russian mafia.

they have their hands into everything, the part about dealing with some distiller, shipping grain alcohol (dyed blue), as windshield washer fluid in 55 gallon drums, then fixed and sold as vodka to Russians was brilliant. It avoided taxes.

I have a young Russian immigrant couple ( about 25yo) as neighbors, I like them (Dmitri &Tatiana). They speak Russian to each other, but both speak good English ( actually better than most Americans, but with an accent), and apoligise for their "poor" English profusely. I understand them fine !

If I need Dmitri to help me move something or the like, he's right there. Dude is like 6'2" and strong as a bull, quite handsome according to my wife and step-daughters as well, his wife is attractive, according to me.

This documentary helped me understand them, and why they left Russia. I'm glad to have them as neighbors !

Russian's like many immigrants are hard working decent people. The only problem is for some people who have risen to prominence in the states, is that their families becomes targets back home.

I am sure you are familiar with the problems for many of the hockey players from Russia.

actually not... are you talking about hockey stars defecting in the Olympics or such ?

I don't know exactly how Dmitri and wife managed to get here, but I'm pretty sure they are here legally (75% confident).

Dmitri works for a local painting contractor, (has a DL) Tatiana (Tanya) works for like Subway/Dunkin donuts type places which is fishy ( more circumstances, too long to get into).

I think they are legal, I'd loan my truck to him anyday, do whatever I could to halt deportation if he's illegal.

if he's illegal, he'd never trust me enough to tell me that, it is possible. I'm naive as to how one illegally emigrates ( immigrates ?) from Russia to US

The more I think about it, the more I think he might be illegal, but I can't change that !

He never stole my lawnmower ! :missingte

Not a problem anymore. I still believe there is a problem for family members back home as these guys make several million a year and I am certain they have to pay to protect family in Russia.

I never grilled the guy with questions, some things are personal and you don't want to talk about it.

I may invite them out to dinner and offer to play pool with him or something.

There is a lot more to the story of why they live next to me.

I'll try a real short version:

A guy (Rob) owns condo next door, he has an x-wife, (Andrea) X 's richie new hubbie (arabic) owns Subways. Rob hurting for money, Andrea gets him Russian tenants Rob moves into the basement, Russians move upstairs, Rob can now pay the mortgages, Rob lives in his basement. Real short version if you can follow that.

The more I think about, the more I think these Russians are potentially illegal, and the more I want to help them. Dmitri would never trust me enough to tell me if he was illegal.

I watched it early in the morning out west. Interesting how most of them are college graduates with degrees.
