I might want to throw up. First Derby I havent bet in 15+ years. I am a big chalk player so I think I would have had some decent shots but most likely still wouldnt have had it. I usually play quite a bit of tickets though. Starting to get sick thinking about this.

I have to keep telling myself there were 20 horses in the race. Wouldnt be surprised if someone I/we know has a piece of the Super.

Why didn't you bet the Derby?

I mean I lost nearly every bet I made, but made several for entertainment purposes.

I tried to drum up a pool down below for the super over a month ago, and got few takers, now I'm pissed-think we could have hit the bastard.

I loved the sport of horse racing as much as anyone. Actually owned a few race horses thru the years (harness). Loved capping more than anything, spent hours with form on days like today back in the past.

Going into today's race I was at my wits end with all the injuries in the sport the last few years. Getting to the point it was getting sad to watch anymore. I even told my GF this morning that I wasnt going to watch . I turned the race on at the half and thought maybe I had overreacted to the past injuries.

Thought it was a brilliant performance by Big Brown, something racing is dying for, a super horse. Than the injury was announced a few minutes later and BAM there we go again. So sad, hard to care much anymore. Takes the wind right out of you. Takes the excitement out of an outstanding race by BB.

I know this may sound dumb but it is honestly the way I feel and I cant help it. I hope Big Brown goes on to win the Triple Crown, this is what racing needs BADLY, a shot in the arm, as I think a lot of people are feeling like I am right now.

I completely agree, I almost cried when they said the horse had to be euthanized, I hope Big Brown wins the Triple Crown

I was feeling this way before the race started. I was a huge fan of the sport at one time and it has slowly drained me the past few years and now today just adds to this.

God forbid this was too happen but can you imagine what would happen if in the next coming weeks Big Brown was to get injured and have to be put down. With all the hype that this horse will get in the coming weeks, it would probably cripple the sport of racing. I cross my fingers that we dont see anything like that for a LONG LONG TIME. horse racing is due for some good luck.

I completely understand as I used to own a few cheap claimers myself and got word one day that one had to be put down. Injured in the barn.

It totally took away any of the joys of racing for me and I either sold off my other horses or they were claimed away shortly thereafter.
