I said it once on this forum about three weeks back, and will say it again. Rodney and Zumaya’s injuries are very detrimental to this team, and more importantly, are continuing to be ignored by the market place. Usually a couple of bullpen pitcher injuries are terribly material, but for a team that lacks depth within the underbelly of the pen, and does not have a reliable closer, their absence devalues them much more than the market is quantifying. Adding to this deficiency is the Tigers starters high pitch count per inning and inability to eat up innings.

A handicapper’s job is to analyze whether the notion that since these two pitchers absence are being consistently ignored in the market place, will their return provide value to the Tigers. My guess is their returns will lower the daily premium placed on this team, but will not allow them to become undervalued.

On a side note, sooner or later, the Braves bullpen injuries should catch up to them. However, unlike the Tigers, the Braves pen injuries appear fully incorporated into their daily lines.
