Thx

That story about the Texas man who sat for 28 years for no reason was crazy

I've got a hunch that this is going to be pretty ugly-especially regarding the way that it was handled.

It's a shame such a great person was killed while criminals at Halliburton and Blackwater are getting richer by the day.

I can't stand to watch 60 minutes. Their liberal bias
is so blatant.

If they can do any story that will make the armed forces
look bad, they will go out of their way to do it.

And, Andy Rooney's shtick lost any humor at all about 20 years ago.

The segment about Dr. Paul Palmer and the organization he co-founded and now runs (with a lot of help) called Partners in Health was very inspiring.

Partners In Health (PIH) is a Boston, Massachusetts-based non-profit health care organization dedicated to providing a "preferential option for the poor". Founded in 1987 by Dr. Paul Farmer, Thomas J. White, and Todd McCormack, joined later by Ophelia Dahl and Dr. Jim Kim, PIH strives to bring the best of western medicine to the poorest of the poor by establishing long-term partnerships with local sister organizations.

The people of Haiti, Peru, Russia, and Rwanda have seen the greatest portion of their work, especially in the treatment of tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.
PIH also has clinics in Lesotho and Malawi, as well as supported projects in Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala. Joia S. Mukherjee, MD, MPH is the medical director of Partners in Health.

Pulitzer prizewinner Tracy Kidder's book Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man Who Would Cure the World, details PIH's work.

Canadian rock band Arcade Fire promoted the charity on their tour of the album Neon Bible. This included the distribution of leaflets, donations and volunteering.

Very worthwhile charity IMHO.

If you have children, I hope they enlist in the army on their 18th birthday and volunteer to be deployed to Iraq and fight the "evil doers".

MR21, I think we can agree that at least one serendipity of the past seven years of WashingtonDC lies and dishonesty surrounding the use of our military troops to invade and seize control of a sovereign nation is that there are a greatly reduced number of parents who will tell their teenagers a life in the military is assured to be honorable.

I'm grateful that my own 22 year old son listened to counsel from me and other trusted adults four years ago when he briefly considered the notion of enlisting in the US Armed Forces.

If I could be confident his service would truly be in defense of American shores and citizens, I'd back his enlistement with pride.

But since I know there's a very strong chance he would be roped into the mercenary efforts in Iraq, I sadly have to counsel him to think twice and thankfully, he did and is now enrolled in university courses to move him further ahead to be a healthy and positive contributor to the American community at large.

I agree with this statement 100% and am glad your son made the correct decision.

I served in the military for four years and did benefit in someways on a personal level but I don't have any illusions of serving my country in a patriotic sense. Basically, it helped me mature so I could succeed in college and eventually earn a M.S.

Tillman is one of the few people in main-stream society that I consider to be a hero. As my son gets older, he will be taught many of the values and ideals that Tillman exemplified.
