I've been having lots of trouble with my right elbow. Seems like it hyper extends doing the simplest of things. Reaching out to grab a car door for example. Went to the batting cages the other day to get ready for spring/summer ball and talk about pain...a couple of swings really hurt the elbow but within 5 minutes the pain subsided and i went back at it. Today it's very sore... on the inner part of the elbow. I'm headed to get an MRI on it next week.

I've played baseball since i was little and wonder if this has anything to do with it. The funny thing is it doesn't hurt at all when i throw. Atleast not yet. I've hyper extended this elbow before playing basketball and i'm an avid weightlifter. Couple years ago i would have problems lifting, it seemed like some ligament or tendon would get stuck and i honestly wouldn't be able to bend my arm more than 90 degrees until i 'adjusted' it. Looks like i should have fixed the problem right there instead of plowing through it. Anybody ever have this same problem? I think something is stretched out to the point where i can't even extend my arm on its on without it hyper extending. I have a very power baseball swing and right now i can tell it's going to be a long season if i just keep hyper extending it over and over.

Funny thing, My right elbow has been fucking up on me too. I didn't do anything unusual, started a few days ago. Nothing as severe as what you describe, but a fast movement sometimes gives a sharp pain.

I'm right-handed, but whack lefty ! :missingte

Odd symptoms. The inside of the elbow is where you would feel pain if it were the medial collateral ligament, but you would feel pain when you throw and it would swell up afterwards. I have Tommy John surgery 9 years ago, so I know the symptoms.

You can get a form of tennis elbow from years of weightlifting and baseball. I ended up with that as well. The tendon actually tore and I needed surgery to repair it. It was the most painful surgery/recovery i've ever had. Excrutiating pain for me. But you would feel that on the outside of the elbow.

Good luck and post up when you get your diagnosis. I would be interested in knowing what it was.

I have the exact pain in my left elbow. I don't know exactly the diagnosis, but I'm thinking ligament. I reduced the intensity of my workouts and hired more labor for the business. You're probably getting older and years of physical activity has your body telling you it's time to back off. I see it as something better than knee or back pain which really suck.

22 year old. I've been taking NOW men's multivitamins for about 4 months. Just recently backed off taking them because i no longer lift because I stop for summer ball. Lifting and hitting don't work together too well, IMO. You ever try to shoot a 3 pointer after a hard chest workout? :missingte

I'm thinking about getting a hyper extension guard. Honestly i'm afraid to try to swing a bat because it hurts that bad when it happens. When i was thinking about it today i thought maybe it had something to do with my hands, believe it or not. I'm probably going to hit up the cages tomorrow and see how it goes.

Been a big lifter in the past. Deadlift repping 400lbs, bench repping 250, squat repping 315. 6'2 220lbs.
Like i said i quit lifting about a month ago to get back into my 'athletic' body instead of my weightlifter body.

It's almost like i can extend my arm with my tricep without tightening ANYTHING in my elbow and it will hyper extend.

I'm almost 100% sure that if i got a hyper extension guard i would be fine. But i shouldn't have to use one and i want to find out why.

When you have tendinitis you lose strength. My grip, my curl, my extension is all 100% strength. No way it's tendinitis. It feels like the next day after someone just put me in an f'n arm bar and kept torqing it.

It's a hyper extension. I'm looking for the why so i can fix it.

Try Orange Triad, people I know that lift or are in sports swear by it, it has a good vitamin profile and joint support too.

Good advice Doberman; in all fairness,a pain in the elbow sure beats a pain in the ass. I guess we should all count our blessings.

just an fyi for those interested....

Been taking 2 pills glucosamine & chondroitin with MSM and vitamin C two to three times a day for the last month or so. My brother told me during one of his wife's medical appointments (for a number of issues she has) he asked the doctor for help in this area and was told it may be an acid build up from the muscle burn and that vitamin C would help this. A pharmacist told me about the other supplement and it is what many older folk use for all sorts of joint/back pain. I am working and also workout harder than I was before and my left elbow joint pain has improved greatly. It's not totally gone, but it's much much milder and not as much of a distraction as before.

hope this helps
