SATURDAY, May 10
Hail to my ex-mother in law's birthday. Was just starting to like the old goat when my first wife kicked me to the curb....
============
First, we'll note that we don't invest against our one "fan" team - the TB DRays - since it's of course Very Bad Voodoo. But we can't deny that Angels +112 looks fairly decent considering Rays drop off vs LHP while Anaheim takes quite a jump. Strong lean to the Under, but will simply pass in preference to tomorrow's matchup of Sonnastine vs Santana.
TWIN +148 vs Sox $6
Boston is now 3-8 playing Away vs teams with winning records, giving them an extended string of 10-29 in same role going back to midseason 2007. While Wakefield's numbers in domes combined with Sox mashing of LHP strongly suggests a Boston win here, we'll slip in a contrarian investment to get things started tonight
NAT -109 vs Fish $7
Florida drops to .221 vs LHP, while even soft hitting Washington should have a decent shot against PartyPig Andrew Miller (2.10 whip in 32IP)
SEAMEN +105 vs Hose $9
Not easy backing the Seattles here, but with LH Washburn in to catch the lighter side of Chicago offense, we like this one.
Fun Fact - Chisox are just 8-32 in past 40 Away non-division when team is not TampaBay (they're a decent 5-1 Away vs DRays).
2TeamParlay
ASTRO +1.5 (-140) at Bum
REDLEG/METROPOLITAN (gm2) Undah 9.5 (-115)
Lay 5
Pays 11.02
Dodgers just 7-14 vs -1.5 in past 21 Billingsley starts. Houston's strong bullpen gives them an increased viability in any road game and we're hoping that we can catch a bit of price value here as LA likely inflated due to Game1 loss Friday in combination with not-so-mighty Sampson starting for Stros.
Meanwhile, at Shea - both starters give us a decent shot to keep opponent at 5 or less. Both bullpens with ERAs under 4 and we're also hopeful we may see at least a couple of Spares starting between the two lineups in this second of two games for today where the opener notched 16 runs.
ROYAL -103 vs Bird $6
Orioles have won two in a row on the road just five times before the past two days going back to early 2006 and they converted the subsequent game three times. But they've only won three in a row in one yard once in over 100 road outings going back to late 2006. Yeah, it was at Kansas City last May, so we'll keep this one light and see if the southpaw Olson - who has been strong in early going - finally gets touched a bit tonight.
Best to us all for a profitable Saturday night
