Wil help me out on this...

If you post something as your "GAME OF THE YEAR" and it loses you are banned for at least a month.

That is some real stakes. Anyone who claims something is their "GAME OF THE YEAR" clearly loves the attention they get on this forum and would sorely miss it if they were banned.

Brilliant post by me. Even important enough for me to use the shift key.

I understand your point and do know posters have always thrown around terms like lock of the century, game of the year, 10,000 star selection but banning them is not the answer. The only thing posters can do is take such boasting with a grain of salt.

To boldly advertise for all to see one's prowess at something most people can do with just a small amount of effort whether it be handicapping a baseball or basketball game (handicapping not necessarily picking the actual winner), performing great feats athleticsm on the ballfield, conquer the opposite sex in bed, or even cook a a half decent steak gives many people the opportunity to brag, thus gaining instant gratification for the braggart, always a desirable sensation by some.

Humility is a virtue that is hard to come by, my advice is to do your best to ignore the lock of the year posters to the best of your ability.
