Celtics defense maybe greatest of all time

This series so far has been unbelievable. They have made James look awful. Not sure how or why this teams defense is this good but it is a sight to be hold.

I still dont think they are getting the ultimate respect for what they have done so far this year on the court. If they get beat (and I hope they do) in a 7 game series, I will be surprised.

Let's not forget Cleveland just came off a series against the defenseless Wizards. Cleveland is a "one man show". Atlanta didn't do to badly against Boston.

They are simply the first to figure out how to use the new allowable zone rules correctly. The rotations are a thing of beauty. They have figured out how to double and rotate beautifully, something that could not have legally been done before the zone rules came into play.

atlanta avg 87 a game against this so called great D. hope you really don't believe that. let's see what that D does on the road.

They also have the benefit of the tightest rims known to man at home. My god those things just reject balls. It is amazing how tight they are.

Little premature for that. Definitely a great defense though. If it is so great then why are the numbers so different on the road. Let the Celts start smothering teams on the road, in the playoffs and we will talk.

I have to agree with this. Watching their defenseive rotations vs. Cavs is very ipressive.

I will also agree that it is the Eastern Conf and the Cavs in general do not impress me (including Lebron...besides his ability to get to the hoop/FT line).

Have to disagree. Celtics holding opponents to 75 ppg at home in the playoffs, but 100+ ppg on the road. A stout defensive team always shows up, even on an off night offensively. Spurs and Pistons defenses of previous years were much better then this Celtic squad. Only Garnett and Rondo are real stoppers. Certainly Pierce and Allen aren't noted for their ability to defend. The deeper this team goes in the playoffs, the more they will be exposed by the quality teams remaining.

2003 Spurs is the greatest defense of all time - the offense kind of sucked and would go long stretches without scoring - but they had Robinson and Duncan at the rim with Bowen chasing people around - teams just simply could not score.

Celtics held opp to 31.6% shooting all year. Not sure if that makes them best ever, but has to be close.

You are talking about 3 playoff 1st round road games. 3 games is hardly a season. I am talking about the whole season, where they allowed less than 1 point per possession. Which is top notch.

They had a top 10 record of all time and a top 10 point differential of all time and this was because of their defense. There hardly a pushover.

I know I am being premature. We still have to let this play out and I hope the lose and look awful to my Pistons but what they have accomplished has been great and the main reason is because of their defense. I just think they have turned it up a notch.
