before you ask me ...why not Excel...its a long story..anyway

I bought Lotus Smart Suite 9.8..and I can't load this into my computer.

I have Windows XP, so it's capable to hold the program.

There are only 2 ways (I can see) to do this: Drive C..Drive E

I get nothing on Drive C and Drive E keeps telling me to load the disk, when in fact its already in there.

I'm so f*ckin mad...:ohno:

please help

Sometimes i get a program on disc and the disc is faulty or my computer just cant read it. Call support and usually they will send you to an online link to download once they verify your purchase...

Take it back, get a refund.

Then download the free open source OPEN OFFICE set of programs which fully replicate and harmonize with MS Office programs and resulting work product.

The C drive is usually the hard drive (where the program should be). The E drive is usually a cd/dvd drive (most times the second cd/dvd) and the disk is in the other cd/dvd drive. That could be why it says to put in disk. When you say you get nothing on the C drive, do you mean it doesn't auto start? or it just won't read the disk. Can you provide more info? Specifically, have you installed a trial version of this program before or is this the first LOTUS product on here? Are there any error messages?

I've got $5 that say your program comes on a DVD and your computer only has a CD drive.

First off, thx for all the feedback.

noPunter...first time Lotus on this machine and no error messages to date.

I get no auto start what-so ever, reguardless of any drive I try (C,D,E.etc).

You would think I could ATLEAST read the exe. sign..

Also, this is NOT a CD for video viewing, trust me.

When I tried (countless times) to download this, I always pressed eject to make sure I was in the right drive mode.

:WTF:

any suggestions besides me returning a Corrupt Disk

thx agains guys...:toast:

I'd say make sure that your CD drive is working. Try and put some other CDs in there just to verify it isn't the CD drive.

once that is verified, then you know for a fact that either:
1) the cd is corrupt
2) the cd is not XP compliant - Talk to support to verify that this isn't an issue then you most likely have #1 as your problem.

Also, it always can't hurt to restart the computer.

Lotus....I am a fricking accountant and I have never used it. lol....i do remember my friend's mom using it when I was a kid

Anyway, thats the first time I laughed about this situation in a while.

I just got done w/a E-mail exchange w/ the company.

They are sending me a new (tested..per my request) disc overnight.

Again guys thx for the help. As I too beleive this disc was bad.

I'm raising my bet to $20.

The V in DVD doesn't stand for "video"... and software mostly ships on data DVDs nowadays. If you bought your computer in the early days of Windows XP, it's possible that your computer cannot read DVD's of any kind, be they video or data disks.

It could just be a defective CD too, but it's more likely to be what I described, IMO.

Google also has office-type programs online. You can go to:

http://docs.google.com

I've uploaded some of my Excel and Word documents. I can access them from work or at home since they are uploaded to my Google account.
