Been there many times. You take the Long Island railroad from Manhattan right to the track. About 40 minutes maybe. If the weather is nice it's a great time. Take a blanket and sit on the grass near the home turn. Warning, if there is a chance for a triple crown the crowds will be big and some years they haven't opened the betting windows. A good alternative is to reserve a table at The Winner's Circle. It is an OTB/ restaurant. It is located near Madison Square Garden. 7th Ave in the 30s.

I never seen the windows closed? I have been there the last 7 years for every Belmont.

It is the only day of the year that you CANNOT bring in your own beer. Any other day you can bring in whatever you want.

Belmont Stakes is unreal. When they turn for home it sounds like a jet airplane.

I remember having to get in line a race before the one you wanted to bet the lines were so long. This was probably the early 90s. It was the year Easy Goer beat Sunday Silence.

I went to 8 Belmont Stakes in a row. LIRR is the way to go. The trains will be crowded as hell, but it definately beats driving there as it takes a good hour just to leave the parking lots.

If BB wins next weekend, the belmont will be madness.

Park at the top of the stretch outside of belmont on the street. Cross the expressway, it takes 10 minutes to walk. But then you just walk there and drive away. Everyone leaves after the belmont. If you stay to the end, you are fine no matter where you park.

At least 200,000 people if big brown goes.

No doubt, I always have the same 8 seats. Top of the stretch.
