Gagne, Hoffman, & Isringhausen

Good lord. I knew it was gonna be bad, but I just looked at the stats:

Gagne: 6.89 ERA, 5 Blown Saves

Hoffman: 5.91 ERA, 2 Blown Saves

Isringhausen: 7.47 ERA, 5 Blown Saves

I'm sure Hoffman would have more blown saves too, if the Padres ever scored enough runs in the first eight innings.

Who would you want closing a game for your team?

What makes no sense is that Gagne was pitching well last year until he got sent to Boston - and then it was an on the spot implosion

Gagne quoted after the game that he does not deserve to pitch the 9th anymore. He says he feels 100% healthy but his problems are mental.

They should work him in the 7th or 8th until he gets himself straight. I have watched all his outings this year and falling behind hitters is his biggest mistake. Then they key off the fastball.
