Figured I'd put out a warning. A bunch of friends have gone to it and said it's just about the worst movie ever made. Not funny, no MMA action, just a long-winded BS film. I wouldn't recommend watching it in other words. You have been warned.

Well, it's a movie with out any notable stars, and it's about a gay "sport" that has just about run its course.
No surprise there.

Talking about jui jitsu or MMA? Because MMA is still exploding like crazy...

Well you are in the minority asufan... MMA is getting bigger and bigger by the day and now has a primetime TV deal on CBS. UFC is setting records with PPV buys... making insane amounts of money. MMA is the new boxing. I have nothing against boxing as I think it's a good enough sport, but MMA is more exciting by quite a bit as far as I'm concerned.

So it's exciting to watch a couple of dudes in spandex roll around on the ground grabbing at each other?
It's barely more legitimate than the WWE--which, by the way, has also had primetime TV deals on major networks and sells tons of PPV's.
Nothing more than a bunch of hype and an inferior product. If anything, the success of MMA speaks more to the dwindling intelligence and attention spans of todays generation than it does to the quality of the "sport."
I'm quite proud to be in the minority when it comes to this, btw.

Not all the dudes wear spandex... Do you also not like baseball because of the skin tight pants? You aren't alone in your bashing but it's pretty homophobic and unwarranted.

Also, not all fights are ground fights... Boxers are coming over to fight MMA actually. None have been really good at it yet but it's only a start. Floyd Mayweather has been rumored to switch over as well so apparently he doesn't think it's stupid. Than again, he'll go wherever he gets paid most.

Boxing is one facet of the game but there are much more talented muay thai strikers that would kill alot of boxers. You also have your jui jitsu guys who can snap your arm off, plus judo champions. Then of course you have your collegiate wrestler which is what you seem to think all the fighters are for some reason. I'll agree that it's boring to see a fight where a superior wrestler just gets the takedown and maintains top position without trying to do much, but those fights are few and far between.

If you want to talk boring, how about Floyd Mayweather? The dude is extremely talented but he's also extremely calculated and thus, extremely boring as he doesn't take chances. He's happy throwing a thousand soft jabs while keeping his distance so he gets the scorecards. I can't fault him for doing it... smart, absolutely... boring... absolutely.

There are a few guys that put on exciting fights and try to get the win without the cards but they are few and far between in boxing.

Just to counter your overstating of what MMA is, I'd rather watch MMA than two guys with pillows on their hands trying to see who can lightly tap the other one enough to let the judges pick them as the winner.

Not a MMA guy but David Mamet making a sports movie is kinda odd. I like his films for the most part but they are not for everyone.

PS, here is a fight you might like. Happened last night. Eddie Alvarez versus Jochiam Hansen. Hansen is a muay thai striker with a strong jui jitsu background. Sanchez is still somewhat new but is having alot of success. He's one of the better boxers in the fight game as far as being technical plus he has excellent wrestling, although he doesn't use it unless he needs to. Guy is always trying for the KO. If you spend 15 minutes watching this fight and still consider the sport boring, then there is no hope for you. Also, you might like Nick Diaz versus Takanori Gomi. Gomi is a wrestler with heavy hands. Diaz is one of the most dangerous submission guys in the game but he loves to throw leather too.

Here is Gomi/Diaz which I consider to be the most entertaining MMA fight ever:

Obviously you've never boxed--boxing gloves are far from pillows. They're actually designed to protect a puncher's hands, not the other way around.

The old "Jui Jitso" background huh; that stuff can leave a real hurt on an opponent.

Sparred a little bit but I've done jui jitsu more than anything. Those Mayweather jabs snap and hurt but they aren't fight enders. They are pretty but he isn't trying to KO the other guy. With gloves on, a tactical jab doesn't do anything to end the fight and he doesn't use it to setup something else as often as an exciting fighter would.
