Baseballs a dead Sport walking for the following reasons,
1) Too many games (95%) are boring for anyone other than the purist. Its great listening to geezers saying this slider this, that curveball that but watching it is a killer. The Pitcher looks around at the loaded bases, nods to the Catcher wiggling His fingers around his balls ( I always wondered if the catcher got an itchy nut what the Pitcher might think) as if He knows something nobody else knows while the whole Stadium knows He's going to be smashed for a Homer.
2) People are gradually finding better value things to do with their leisure time
3) The old "My Dad took me to Baseball" thing doesnt work with the Kids anymore. There's a million things they could be doing rather than listening to Dad talking bollocks about whats obviously a shit game.
I know all this because its already happened in England over the last 30 Years concerning Cricket. But the cricket world copped on and 20/20 Cricket is packing them in. Who cares that the old established game is staring extinction, this new 2-3 Hour extravaganza is action packed and filling Stadiums all over the World. Its success is a wildfire at the moment and even the Wife and Kids get sucked in to the excitement, with Baseball in the doldrums its not impossible that this gets a foothold in the States.
