Tampa Bay Rays/St Louis Cardinals UNDER 8.5 -119
M. Garza must start / A. Wainwright must start
Team Totals from Pinny only add to a 7.5 total and I think this line could drop to 8.
Garza- 3.86 ERA overall, 1.37 ERA Last 3
Teams batting .227 when Garza's away
The right-hander is beginning to develop into the dominating pitcher the Rays had hoped for when they acquired Garza in an offseason trade with the Twins. He is coming off his best performance of the season -- his first scoreless appearance in a season-high seven innings vs. the Yankees. Garza held New York sluggers Bobby Abreu, Hideki Matsui and Jason Giambi to a combined 0-for-7 in his 108-pitch effort, and will look for his third win of the season vs. the Cardinals.
Garza has been a better pitcher under the sky than under a roof, possessing an 8-3 record with a 3.47 ERA in 15 career appearances outdoors and a 2-11 record with a 5.17 ERA in 17 career appearances indoors.
Wainright- 2.95 ERA overall, 3.26 ERA Last 3
Teams batting .195 when Wainright's home
Wainwright wasn't sharp his last time out, but it had to happen at some point. Nobody goes through a flawless season. Being back home should suit the right-hander. He's 3-0 at Busch Stadium with a 3.5 to 1 strikeout-to-walk ratio and an average of 7.75 innings per start
Under is 5-0 in TB's last 5 games
Oakland Athletics/Atlanta Braves UNDER 8 -114
R. Harden must start T. Hudson must start
Harden was 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in two starts with the A's this season before having to go on the disabled list with a shoulder strain. It was his sixth trip to the DL in four seasons. When healthy, Harden is usually dominant
Hudson had arguably his best outing of the season Monday, scattering two hits over seven innings to get the win against the Pirates, which snapped the Braves' seven-game road losing streak. Hudson didn't allow a run for the second time in three starts; he pitched a three-hit shutout on May 2 against the Reds. He has allowed just two extra-base hits in the past 23 innings.
"I feel pretty good physically and I'm pitching with a lot of confidence," said Hudson, who will be opposed by A's right-hander Rich Harden. "Hopefully I can carry the last three starts into tomorrow."
Harden/Hudson are former teammates, good motivation for both of them...
"There aren't many of the guys I played with still over there," Hudson said. "But it will still be fun to pitch against my old team."
"I was hoping I'd match up against him (Hudson)," Harden said.
Under is 8-2-1 in OAK's last 11 games
Under is 9-1-1 in ATL's last 11 games
OAK are hitting poorly with runners in scoring position right now
