I tested some dates, came up with $489 ( RT for 2 with Taxes), from Hartford, not bad at all ! Dates fit going to SBR, not sure if I'm going to both.

Southwest was $767.

Doug,

You should look into buying a frequent flyer coupon for Southwest Airlines. While they aren't technically transferable by sale, people sell them all the time on ebay or craigslist for about $300-325 for round trip and you can fly anywhere in the country. SWA has changed their program, used to be they accepted any number of them for a given flight but I guess they now limit the number of rapid rewards vouchers per flight. So look into that first.

I'm not a frequent flier, don't want hassles on transfers. I'm coming up with $250 on US airways, which beats 300-325.

I have a feeling I won't be making any long trips anytime soon, if I even do this one. I likely will because SBR pays back $300 of this.

I'm gearing up for the next Depression.

Got it, buying the SWA tickets is easy as hell. Basically just get on the phone with the guy that has it, call SWA, he books, you pay him.

seems doable that way, but I don't see the need to mess with that, with the fare quote above.

Is that because of this thread ?

No. I just search around for the best price and they had the best one for direct flights at the times I wanted. I don't think I've ever flown them before.

For sure, didn't realize that was $489 for two passengers.

That's less than I paid last year, I'm close to booking it... and doing SBR only, otherwise 9 days is too long for both. I'd rather party with RX guys, but the SBR airfare deal is tough to refuse. I'm still undecided, but I think I need to jump that deal soon.

United has a ton of flights from Denver to Vegas bash flights for $203.

Vegas must really be hurting, because it's usually 300+ from here due to demand.

That seems high, if I can go East Coast for $245, about 3X the distance, I believe.

The cheapest direct flight right now from the Bay Area (SF, Oak or SJ) I have found is ~$260, and that is with a 11pm return flight, SWA is $286. SWA doesn't offer super cheap flights any longer, ATA and America West are out of business and JetBlue doesn't fly direct to Vegas. Options have become very limited from the Bay.

Distance doesn't equal price-I paid $350 from Denver once last year(within $25 of what I paid to fly to Costa Rica-go figure).
