How come Greg Popovich does not get his proper respect.

Not saying he is not respected. Most people mention him when talk comes up of who the great coaches are these days.

But im talking about all-time greats here.
I think he was the MVP of the series. I have a new respect for the Spurs. They are not the most talented team in the NBA, but they do everything so right. Thats a great reflection on the coach.

There are plenty of coaches that could ruin a team like the Spurs. But Papa always seems to push the right buttons everytime. And makes awesome adjustments.

It will be interesting to see what he has in store for Phil Jackson.

Because they're such a dirty team, they always have been.

Flopping, injuring other players, god knows what else. They'll take advantage and exploit any rule, not all teams are like that. Papabitch will hack-a-shaq at the end of a first quarter in a game 2,3,4, Doc Rivers could've hacked Ben Wallace with 3:20 left up 5 in the 4th Q, but didn't want to extend the lead that way, and instead it became a 1pt game.

That is exactly why I posted that. That isn't an apology.

"Sorry Doug, I knowingly and repeatedly lied and accused you of being a liar even when I knew you were telling the truth, but if I somehow happened to have offended you, my bad, but no sweat off my nuts."

You sound worse than an athlete getting busted for roids or cheating on their wife.

Whatever dude, get off your rag and deal with your own life.
I said I was sorry, what do you want me to do? Write a book about it or something.

You said this Chop. I think this exactly how I feel about the Hornets and Coach Scott. Amazing job by him and them this year.

I want you to do the same thing Doug (and many others) want you to do, issue a real, unequivocal apology. Not some half assed "if I offended you" crap. You know you offended him, you intentionally did so and your "apology" to Doug shows you simply don't care.

One last time, I told doug I was sorry, Doug said he accepted, end of story.

This is between me and Doug, not fhmesq44.

Because he fired the Bob Hill and took over himself. The fact that David Robinson was out for the season which led to them getting Duncan with the first pick. It wasn't hill's fault that Robinson was out. Why not give Hill the chance to coach with Robinson and Duncan. He has never coached a team without Duncan. He has 3 great players on that team in Duncan, Parker and Manu. Let's see him coach the Hawks or Sixers and take them to the playoffs.

Also, any coach that willingly plays Jacque Vaughn for any reason cannot be that good.

You've got to have subs - Pop thinks Vaughn is alot tougher than Stoudamire and plays better defense - he's also gone to Manu at PG for several minutes - regardless, Parker gets tired too

I understand you're a Mavs fan - but why anyone else other than a Suns fan would hate the Spurs is beyond me - SA is all professionals that talk no shit and just play basketball - then I have to hear how boring they are - sure, TP and Manu are boring - two constant highlights are boring

Probably because he has had Tim Duncan for all those titles and great years. Duncan is the main person people give the credit to since their major sucesses starting instantly when he arrived.
Most of the other great coaches have proved it over time with more then one team or more then one cast of players. Phil Jackson for isntance has two major arguments in his case. He did it with two completely different teams. And in both instances the team was already assembled and acheived much great success right after he arrived.
Larry Browns teams always improve after he arrived, he has a long track record to justify him

Popovihc might be a better coach then both of them , its just tough to tell when all his sucessful seasons had the same star player.

He was the inventor of the Pat Riley switch. How short memories are about this.

can't believe you would think a diehard mavs fan could like the spurs. c'mon, they're rivals and the spurs have owned them for the most part. plus i really can't stand ginobli's flopping, timmy d's whining, and bowen's dirty play. doesn't mean i don't respect them, i just don'e like em.
