Buch of dudes with badminton baskets frogging around on what looks like an astroturf hockey rink

"NLL" Playoffs?

Dig what appears to be a fairly large crowd in attendance

Lacrosse is an awesome sport. I almost played for Boise St last year with some friends but I couldn't get good enough in time. Might try it again next year.

I think it's polo on horses...

Lacrosse is pretty hard core. Didnt you say you liked it because it gave you an excuse to whack people with a stick ? ;)

Haha. Well hitting people is my favorite part. The shitty thing about lacrosse is as soon as you hit someone over you are now standing over the ball trying to pick it up with the other team trying to hit you. It's easy to lay someone out then get laid out yourself.

PS, I pretty much suck at it still. I am playing in a softball league and playing tennis whenever possible lately so I haven't been practicing at all.

Well I've kept this on for past half hour which suggests I'm a degenerate requiring SOME kind of play by play audio in my office at all times.

I notice that Lacrosse seems to have a different demographic than football and other major sports.

Those are sponsored by guys that drink beer, drive new cars or surf go-daddy.com

Lacrosse targets guys who shave (edge shaving gel is the primary sponsor today)

Lacrosse players love the beer. Well at least at Boise St. Same with every rugby player I've ever known.

Steve,

Indoor lacrosse is okay, but the outdoor game is much better. I coach a high school team on the other side of Tampa--I'll be sure to let you know when we come to Clearwater in the spring. Lacrosse is an excellent sport--the fastest game on two feet--that is now becoming popular here in Florida. I think the indoor NLL is wrapping up their season, but the outdoor MLL is just starting. (I'm not 100% sure--I don't follow the pro game that much.)

I am leaving tomorrow morning to head up to Foxboro for the NCAA lacrosse Final Four this weekend that will be broadcast on ESPN2 (Saturday semifinals) and ESPN (Monday championship). Both semifinal games should be excellent, especially Syracuse/Virginia.

I grew up in the lacrosse capital of the world, and went to a high school that is in the top 10 or 20 nationally every year. The conference we were in currently has the #1 team and 4 teams total in the top 30. I also went to the university of maryland which is a great lacrosse school. Most people have never seen the game since it is not popular outside the northeast at all, but it is quite exciting and fast paced. College lacrosse teams are also usually the biggest party animals on campus. At maryland, they made the football team look like a bunch of ballet dancers in the drinking department. The indoor game is kinda cool, but outdoor is where it's at. I suggest watching the college final four this weekend to get a feel for what it's all about.

By the way, playing lacrosse in boise and tampa is news to me LOL. I was on a club team in high school and we would joke about going to Idaho to show them lacrosse and dominate. I looked it up on laxpower.com and there's few florida teams in the top 100-200s but the best high school ID has to offer is number 700 something according to the computer rankings.

Yea lacrosse hasn't really taken off in Boise or Idaho for that matter. My buddies high school team was one of the better teams in the area and they got absolutely smoked by an all-star team of like 14 year olds from California.

St. Andrews down in Boca Raton is in at #51. It's a private school that is run like a college--they're perennial state champions. For the record, my team is #1792!
