I didn't even know they had him in the minors.

Anybody have thoughts on this guy returning ?

I doubt he does well. He has bigtime injury issues and is only hitting in the low 90s. Unless he completely reinvents himself, I think he'll have an ERA around 6.

scouts for other teams said he has looked good and wished they had signed him.

14 innings in AAA this year 0.64 ERA. He will probably be at least decent and could be a real steal for Boston. Since not a lot is expected, surprise on the upside is possible

With an offense like Boston he has a very good chance of helping them win it all again this year...damn Boston really is stacked. I don't see any team beating them this year come October.

I heard he hit 95 on the gun in one of his tune up games and he looks sharp. Probably on a fairly low pitch count. Playing the Royals anyway. Hey, I heard they scored a run tonight and actually got a few hits!

What the fuck were the Yankees and EVERY other team thinking when they didnt attempt to sign a former Cy young pitcher to a MINOR LEAGUE contract?!

I was saying this the second i heard the Sox got him

Yanks are going to be pulling some moves soon, IMO !

Joba Chamberlain will be a starter soon.

Wells and or Clemens out of retirement ?

They probably sign somebody's castoffs, and they fail.

Rotation is bad with only Wang being reliable. They are a mess, may finish last.

Well, this coming from the guy who predicted the Red Sox would miss the playoffs and thought the Shaq to Phoenix deal was a good move for the Suns.

Just giving you some shit, Jake. Nothing personal. :103631605

It wouldn't shock me to see one back. Their pitching is pretty awful except for

Wang,Rivera,Chamberlain, and maybe Pettitte.

Thurman Munson has a better shot of catching for the Yanks next week than Clemens does of wearing the pinstripes (or any other jersey) again.

They need somebody bad.

Starters are Wang,Pettitte, Mussina....then what ? Nobody is working as a #4 or #5.

Did you see him with the Angels last year? He was terrible, it was a given we would lose pretty much any game Bart started. Last season, we had Lackey, Escobar, and Weaver shutting teams down. But every 4th and 5th game, we seemed to lose because Bart then Santana was pitching.

I feel that Colon pitched even worse than Ervin Santana, who was sent down to AAA. Colon sucks!!!

Wonder if Cashman regrets not including Hughes and/or Kennedy in a deal for Santana. :ohno:

As presently constituted, the Yanks are in trouble. The problem with moving Joba to the rotation now (of which there are many) is it makes a bullpen that's already lacking any depth even more thin.

Colon was the best fade in baseball during the second half of last season, no doubt about it. Was an embarrassment watching him continually get beat with his fastball when it was evident that his velocity, the primary reason he was once a 20-game winner, was completely gone.

Well his arm was completely shot... he was always injured... that's why no one wanted him.

Not a problem at all. If I'm wrong feel free to give me shit because I'll rub it in your face when I'm right haha.

PS, the Shaq move was still a good deal in my mind. They couldn't win the title the way they had things and they took a chance to see if anything would change. It was better to try and fail then to keep failing with the same roster IMO.

PSPS, the Red Sox will miss the playoffs.

Ian Kennedy is going to throw some quality innings before too long. He has the potential to be a very nice starter.
