for both leagues nba and nfl. nba im hearing it here with my wolves now, people saying oh yea this guy would be alright, but he doesn't have the value to be taken in the 3rd spot. who the hell determines value, chad ford, mel kiper?

i mean if you find a guy you want, why should it matter where you draft him as long as you get him.

for instance with my wolves, a guy likes mcgee from nevada. we have the 3rd pick so he says we'll have to trade down to get him. if we trade down to far a team might end up taking him and we miss out.

i think they should just draft and forget this talk about value.

It is risk reward scenarios. If you are fairly sure you can trade down, get another pick and get your guy you do it. Maybe that other pick turns into a Tony Parker or something. Never know. But I do get what you are saying to an extent.

Well one thing to think about is that if they take him with the 3rd pick but they could get him with the 8th or whatever if they trade down is that they will pay him a ton more. With the salary cap stuff in place, taking your guy too early has more ramifications than meet the eye.

And Parker was the LAST pick of the first round.

Speaking of value picks, the Bengals are the worst at assessing value to players in the draft. It can kill your payroll.
