Fan killed in fall at Turner Field
Police says alcohol was a factor

A Braves fan had been drinking alcohol before he fell down a stairwell to his death at Turner Field during Wednesday night's Braves-Mets game, authorities said.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as Justin Hayes, 25, of Cumming. Hayes suffered head injuries when he fell an estimated four levels inside to field level, striking concrete and metal railing, according to Atlanta Police spokesman Ron Campbell.
Campbell said he did not know how much or how long Hayes had been drinking.
The police report was not available Thursday afternoon.
Hayes was reported to have been sliding on a handrail in the bottom of the 8th inning when he slipped off. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"The Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Police Department are investigating the tragic accident that resulted in the death of a 25-year old male fan at last night's game," the Braves said in a statement released Thursday morning. "Our sincerest and heartfelt condolences go out to his family."

Probably sue the Braves or whoever in the hell owns the stadium. "They should have cut him off, he was obviously drunk" or some BS like that.

As a non-drinker, I have difficutly feeling sorry for anyone this stupid.

AND JUST HOW DO YOU KNOW IF HE'S STUPID? BECAUSE HE HAD A FEW DRINKS? JUST BECAUSE YOUR ASS DON'T DRINK DOESN'T MEAN EVERYONE THAT DOES IS STUPID. MAYBE IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT.

Why is it drinkers think that is an excuse to be an asshole. Why is it ok to get in a car and drive with a chance to kill someone. The drunk never seems to die (what a shame).

Drinking is not an excuse to put yourself or anybody else in harms way. If this guy would have fell on somebody he would have killed them too. Do you want that to be a family member.

What if he falls on the head of a little kid and kills the kid?

The good news is that he won't be procreating.

I do wrong all the time. Hell just fade me a few years ago on bb and you would be rich.

I am saying I am tired of the I was drunk excuse. No I don't know that he was driving home. I was comparing it to drunk drivers in general. There is no excuse.

Did the guy tumble 150 feet down a stairwell, or did he fall down the stairwell & then go over the railing & fall 150 feet onto the lower level? The article on ESPN is vague as hell.

Incidents like this at sporting events will continue to happen as long as alchohol is served. Seeing as beer sales account for a large part of the revenue at stadiums, nothing is going to change as far as the alchohol sales. The conduct of fans at sporting events is completely unacceptable. The foul language and loutish behavior has gotten a lot worse and will continue to get worse until alchohol is banned at sporting events. Yes, I know that's not going to happen.

Amazing you never hear about sober people falling off a hotel balcony or over a stair well.

Hey Lapdance are you drinker or something. How you defend this guy is amazing to me. He was stupid. And the drinks may have had something to do with his bravery(stupidness). When you drink you get real brave(stupid).

I am a drinker and this was stupid. It is up to the individual to know when enough is enough. The stadium should not be responsible. I agree with everyone, well except of course, lapdance, who must be drunk during his (or her) posts.
