From a friend:
My father starts his day with yoga and a seven kilometer run. He says the older you get, the more discipline you have to have...I asked him are you afraid of getting old? He says no way, no one can escape old age or death and that he is doing this partly for him and partly for me...He doesn't want to burden me and wind up in a hospital...He wants to spend his last years of his life enjoying his children's company and he doesn't want them worried..He is doing this because he loves his family and his health is the biggest gift that a father can give to his children on Father's Day...
Thought this was pretty sincere and to the point...
