hno:Real Sports on HBO is a very well done program. I think it's one of the best sports documentary series that I've seen. Bryant Gumbel is a good host and they have some really good reporters. Bernard Goldberg is my favorite and Frank Deford does a good job as well.
That segment about the horses was tough to watch. I have to admit that I turned my head a few times because there were parts that were very graphic and very sad. As one poster mentioned, there is a dark side to sports and this is certainly one of them They seemed to single out Mountaineer Park which I don't think was entirely fair as this is probably something that happens all over the country. It would be good if all these horses could be adopted and saved but I know that would be difficult to find somewhere for all of them where they could live out their days in a safe and happy place.
