For me I moved to Bay Area after five years of excile from baseball from Hawaii,no cable back then and the world series games were shown that night as tape of were flown over hours after the game had ended as was good ole days when all WS games was during day.

I was hungry for bases I went to A's and Giants cheered them both on but as time went by the Giant fans were obnoxious and the A's were like the step child and before Hawaii lived in the beltway and was a Senators fan and loathed the O's so was an American leaguer I guess,Fuck the Giants and their fans....LOL.

Loved the Raiders and 9ers but the Raiders moved and still tried to follow but lost interest and fan base went from blue collar to gutter sluts...LOL and ended up responding to a bill board add and bought 49er season tickets at $12.50 a game.

VD does this mean your a fellow A's fan?

Not really, but a huge baseball fan....my favorite sport.....going to Fenway for the first time at the end of June with Joeyfitz...wish they would play more World Series games during the day again and more Sunday doubleheaders....those doubleheaders were the rule back in the day...:103631605

Double headers were the bomb a guy told me he went to an A's double header where Cat Fish Hunter and Vida Blue both pitched shut outs and Fingers got both saves.

Was just pulling you chain with Philadelphia A's reference.

back in the 70's i was a kid. I played "strat -o -matic" baseball ( a board game w/dice ). Cliff Johnson, a part time player for the 1977 Yankees, was just an absolute terror in the games I played for hours on end rolling dice and keeping detailed stats. The game played pretty true statistically, but CJohnson was the exception. He overperformed. He hit game winning HR's all the time and hit 60+ HR's overall for the season. I became a Cliff Johnson and a devoted Yankee fan back then - and changed my allegance every time he was traded in the real MLB .. quite often.

Even though Jerry Reinsdorf doesn't think so, I live in the Chicago market. I get no Michigan tv channels.

In 1968 I saw a bunch of young guys out of college get drafted by the Oakland A's. They were moving from Kansas City and got a chance to play right away because the Kansas City A's were really bad.

I have been a HUGE fan ever since.

I have seen them play over 200 times and I live 300 miles from the nearest MLB ball park.

im a lakers fan been forever. Other then that i like the dynasty. It means that much more when a team wins a title beating a powerhouse. Pats, Redsox, red wings, yankees, spurs, teams like that are great.

One of the things that swayed me to the A's vs Giants back when was Vida Blue.

The mass exodus happened the 2nd year of living there the dynasty was over everyone but Vida.

The team and Charlie fucking sucked, but Vida facing the Angels Nolan Ryan and or Frank Tannana was priceless.

Back when was true unbalanced schedule he hooked up with one or the other and 5 days later they did it all over again

Then was the Frank Viola vs Dave Stewart,I love good pitching duels.

It's real easy for me. The weather sucks in Seattle during the winter but growing up in the early '80s the Seahawks were pretty damn good. The Sonics made the playoffs every year and I can remember like it was yesterday Griffey making his Seattle debut. The kid made everyone from Washington love the game of baseball again.

The summer of 1995 when the Mariners came back from double digits back to beat the Angels was awesome. They went on to beat the Yanks on the Martinez double down the line (down 2-0 in the series) and almost made it to the big one but lost to Cleveland. It was one of the best summers of my life.

Nothing like a game at Safeco on a sunny day.
