Growing up and living my whole life in Michigan (EST) I cant even fathom sports starting times on the west coast, espically with college and pro football. Not sure if it is better but weekend morning during football season allows you to take care of some business then settle into a long afternoon/evening of football. I cant imagin a 9/10 am start time for a football game.

Started thinking about it this morning that all of these baseball games today are starting in Vegas at 10AM, wow!!! I know MNF would be better on the West coast as most EST fans have hard time staying up past midnight.

Iceman, I have it the best. I am 10 minutes from the Central time zone, but live in the Eastern time zone. I can get to Chicago in 70 minutes. Actually the people in the Central and Mt time zones have it best as they are only 2 hrs from the furthest time zone.

west coast hands down. I grew up in NY and have lived in CA for 14 years. While it takes some time to get used to, west coast is MUCH better IMO (although Mountain may actually be the best).

10 am NFL starts are great and the games are over at 4. still allows for some time to do something Sunday evening, same goes for Saturdays (unless you want to watch the late games, which generally end about 9). Plenty of time to do stuff after the games end. Same goes for MNF, bust out of work early and head to the bar for happy hour and you are home by 10, no 1am crap.

You can watch all of the college hoops games and not stay up until 2. March Madness is on all day and during lunch (as opposed to starting at 12:30 or 1, whatever it is).

MLB and NBA playoff games are over at a reasonable hour. When I was in law school I would wake up hung over as shit, turn the TV on Sat or Sun and lay in bed for the first games, then get up and grab lunch and start the day.

Like I said, took some getting used to, but all in all I like the west coast timing better. And now with Tivo, it is even better. If a game starts at say 4 or some other time before you get home from work, record it, FF through all of the crap and you can watch the entire game in a very brief time.

West Coast then move east to the MTN, Central and East is last.

The Pacific time zone is the best for sports 4 PM starts during the week and 9 and 10 for football.

Nothing like NFL Sunday and the bowl games where you can wake up on the West coast and watch football at 10 in the morning.

worst = Hawaii Time Zone

Today's first game started at 6am. I was still sleeping and didn't get my bet in.

last game usually goes off at about 4 pm and when I get home from work there is zero sports to bet on.

college football is good though....saturdays it starts off at 6am where i can fade in and out of sleep. Games go on all day until the Hawaii game tips off 12 hours later and finishes about 10 pm Hawaii Time.

I was in Hawaii a couple years back (my first time there) during NBA/NHL playoff time and was so completely disoriented to saddle up to the pool bar at about 10 am and find one game already over and the other one mid-way through the first half. Hawaii would blow for sports TV.

Living on the west coast for 32 years after living on the east coast for 31, I find the west coast much better. I don't think I'd be able to stay up to watch an NFL game until midnight or later.

It's also a lot easier, IMO, to get up early on a Sat. or Sun. to prepare for the NFL games. Being able to watch Feist and Root early on Sat morning, around 7 am, in bed is fun.

The only drawbacks is that the bookies open around 3 pm during the week, and usually put the lines out on Thursday. That's one thing nice about dealing offshore, you get the lines 24/7.

Having the MNF games starting at 5:00 or 5:30 is the only drawback. If I can't get home to bet the lines at lunchtime, or I'm undecided about which side to take, and then get stuck on the road until 6 pm, I have to pass the game or bet the halftime line. But that doesn't happen too often.

On any given Saturday in the fall I can watch live sports from 7:45 a.m (EPL live) through 2 a.m (Hawaii etc), then wake up Sunday morning morning and do it again*.

I'm a college student and have lived on the East Coast my entire life, but have family in Vegas. I can't imagine being a sports fan and livin on the west coast. It is no problem for me when I vacation there, but having to wake up at 8 or 9am to get to a casino or bar for the Sunday NFL games would be brutal. Not to mention NCAA games that tip at 12 ET. Even worse than that , however, would be working- could never get to any games during the week b/c of work. I think east coast would have to have it better, but I haven't lived in both unlike others.

I find football Sundays that waiting till 10 am,every minute seems like an hour.

But I'm an early riser.

So you have season tickets to east coast team.

What do you gamble on and watch at the tailgate?

Definitely Eastern time zone...........most sports caters to the EST.

I would hate to wake up Sunday early morning out West placing my bets in for the 1:00pm NFL games.

Hawaii is by far the best time zone!

Work at home! Have games on all day during work!

Have NFL over by 2pm or so and have the whole rest of the day to spend with family.

Early morning workouts while watching ncaa football on Saturday.

You east coast guys make it sound like its hard to get out of bed by 9am!

You should have laid the wood to your wife, worked out, eaten breakfast, paid your bills and more before nine am!

Then again, the Islands have weather that you are eager to get out of bed and enjoy. When the sun comes up it's time to rise and shine baby.

Aloha.
