Passed on Monday's card. Put these two wagers in before the blowout loss.
I'm disappointed with myself for not waiting because the line ML is now +171.
I don't mind this spot for Colorado though. Hurdle is a good manager so I think his team will respond. Lots of injuries obviously with the Rockies but they were playing over .500 basbeall during their 9 game home stand. Hurdle's been saying all the right things too like "we have no excuses" and "the young guys have to step up" and "it gives the next guy an opportunity" etc. Smith was hitting .321 in AAA and was putting up a RBI/game and brings some enthusiasm to a team that was hungover from the playoff run last year anyways even before the injuries. Sounds like Atkins could be back to help in the middle of the order.
It's very helpful for Hurdle that Jimenez's turn in the rotation is after the 20-5 loss. He can help stabalize things. He'll want to eat some innings and can pitch to contact to be economical with his pitch count to get deeper into the game. He's got good enough stuff that he can get consistent ground ball outs which is important at Citizens Bank Park. Last start, 16 of the 21 outs Jimenez recorded were via ground ball.
Kendrick starts for PHI and COL can get too him even with the injuries. He's got only 22 K's to 17 walks and teams are hitting .306 off him this season. COL don't have many at bats off the kid but the guys who have had success against him.
The opposition have scored 4+ runs in each of Kendrick's last 7 starts and COL as a team have a batting avergae of .364 against him. The Rockies are well aware they haven't given any rin support to Jimenez and will look to correct that tonight.
