Looks like the Lakers will win their series and advance. Maybe I was wrong on my assessment but I also feel that referees are ruining this game. I just can't watch it anymore.

Any home team gets a ton of bogus BS calls. What ever happened to just letting them play? Then the one time they finally decide not to call what looked to be a surefire foul was last night on the last shot.

It doesn't even matter whose on what team anymore... the referees are deciding these games before the players get on the floor. I just can't stand to watch this crap anymore. I want the players and teams to be in control of who wins/loses and this year in the playoffs that just isn't the case.

So to all the Lakers fans, congrats. It appears you folks were right. Feel free to give me all the crap you want.

And this whole rant isn't just about the Lakers/Spurs series; the refs have been crap the entire playoffs in every series. I just can't stand to watch it anymore.

compared to the fouls called on fish in game 3 and the 1st q of game 4, it was brutal to see a no whistle...inconsistent ref's is and always will be a problem in the nba, we all know that, even those who do not gamble on the game know it....

sounds like a regular NFL/college football/college basketball game. hell even baseball the umps give home teams the wider strike zones.

Much much rarer though. Bad calls are a part of any refereed sport and I understand that. In these playoffs though, it's just completely out of control.

I'm thinking I'm just about done with the sport. Lacrosse is more exciting anyway and runs the same time as NBA.

NBA better hope the Celtics blow out the Pistons or there are going to be a lot of questions about every call made...

your kidding I hope. the NFL players flop as much as the NBA players.
pass interference calls, holding calls are all heavily weighted to home teams.
star players get star treatment. randy moss puts his hands up he gets defensive holding, pass interference in his favor.
and this comes from a nfl guy to.

The difference is it's one or two calls a game in the NFL. In the NBA, it's twenty. Big difference in my opinion.

its not as easy with the nba though. the nba is the only league where 2 people can sit down together, one guy says he think it's an obvious foul, the other guy doesn't agree. it's definently the most subjective league. last night is a perfect example. some say its a foul, others say no.

It wasn't a foul.

Derek Fisher went in the air to try to block it. Barry should have leaned in right there to draw the foul. Instead he ducked and dribbled once, then tried to shoot around Fisher. Barry had a very easy opportunity to draw the automatic foul by leaning in with a defender in the air, but instead he took the dribble, and leaned in to a defender holding his position. That's not a foul, and a good no call.

The NBA is unwatchable. Stern and the league dictate who wins and loses. It is absolutely no different than the WWE. It's entertainment, it is not a sport.

Wow. You really go out of your way to defend a shady professional sport.

So, if someone claims they can't enjoy the NBA, as much as they'd like, because they feel it's not legitmate you run into thread and say "just say you don't like basketball..." That's fair.

Well, I like basketball. I'm sure Jake and Stolidog does as well. Above all I like legitimate athletic compeition. The NBA is a weighted, slanted league and it's fairly obvious to anyone that isn't retarded or doesn't have a Jerry West NBA logo tattooed on their penis.

NBA is a joke and it's a damn shame.

The fact that Barry could have made it more of a foul doesn't make it not a foul. That was a horrendous non-call, a foul should be a foul regardless of time of the game or players/teams involved. If Bryant is the shooter, that is a foul, if Barry does that with 5:49 left in the second quarter, that is a foul, if the Nets are the opponent, that is a foul.

The fact that you as fans accept star treatment, end of of game = different rules and preferred team treatment is ridiculous. Goes to show how lame the NBA is. What is the point of having rules if they are changed and called differently depending on the whim of an official, the time of the game or the players/teams involved?

No other sport is perfect in its officiating but none have such obviously different rules for different times of the game (save, perhaps, OT playoff hockey where the officials swallow their whistles entirely) or for different players.

Honest basketball. No preferential treatment for superstars. No preferrential treatment for certain teams. Real basketball; legit athletic competition.

Funny, but I think this preferrential bullshit was started to maximize the entertainment value of the NBA and it has worked - on the same brainless fucking sheep that like WWE, shit sit coms, MTV, etc, etc, etc.

And BTW: fhmesq44 pretty much nails it two post above. Pretty much sums up what I see when I watch the NBA.
