I've been there at least 10 times but not in 3 years.

I want to stay on the strip. Any thoughts on good hotels at a decent price?

Planet Hollywood.To a lesser extent,Monte Carlo & Bally`s.
True. Can't go wrong with Planet. I was impressed with the rooms , the SB isnt too shabby and connected to it is the the Miracle Mile Mall (which was easy for a noob like me to get lost in) .

I checked on prices at Planet Hollywood during the time I'm going and they want a whopping $199 a night and on some nights $299!

Are you fing serious? I'll stay on Fremont street for 1/3 of that if that's the going rate these days.

I make a decent living and don't need rich friends to loan me money. I know it's hard to imagine but some of us actually have decent money managment skills and aren't searching in the couch for quarters and dimes.

Vegas packages on all the travel sites are spendy right now. I went four times last year and can't find any package even in the same ballpark as what I paid last year.

I remember I got a hotel room once for about $35 a night. It was off the strip and not the nicest room but decent since you're not in the room that long anyway. Those times are long gone.

Amazing people pay for rooms when over and over I've recommended taking the short time to learn video poker(which is a win longterm in itself) and recieving all the comps that the hotels will offer you........ free rooms, food, beverages, and even cash in the mail.

For beginners, learn dueces wild and then play the game at ANY of the station casinos........and you will be good to go at any of their many locations in the valley............not to even mention others across the country.

Harrahs has hotels all over the country and are all connected to ONE slot card........having said that, you will be hard pressed to find 100+% games at Harrahs........but learning jacks or better at 99%+ is worth it for the comps.

I may be starting my own website in the near future where you will be able to learn to even take more advantage of what casinos have to offer.

Don't stay at the Bellagio. That is about the only advice I can give.

I was playing black jack 500 a hand (no i don't always play that high), and you they made me feel like I was playing $1.00 at circus circus. I guess they cater to the super whale.

I went last year during the mlb all star break and took about 6 or 7 guy's I work with. I arranged for a suite for myself mainly because I needed something with a fax machine in it.

When I got there they did not have the room i requested. I blew it off and figured i'd go the extra mile and walk down to the business center and fax my daily work back home. Try $11 a page and they would not cover it since my room was supposed to have a fax anyway.

I ended up calling and being a dick and they brought up a fax and put in my room but still charged me $300 for it.

As a whole my group (and this is being modest) went for close to 6 digits. I swear on my life the only thing they comped us was drinks at the table while we were gambling.

To add quite a bit of irony to the story, 3 or 4 times during my trip I would walk down to Casino Royal and play craps. I played there bc they offer 100x odds and it is sorta a cool place for a redneck like myself.

They still send me something at least once a week with comp's and coupons and whatever else they can offer to get my sucker ass back in there.

To put it in perspective though these two places are certainly on oppisite ends of the spectrem as far as the people they cater too, and their overall atmosphere.

I've never stayed at the Bellagio, but their sports book is second to none, in my opinion.

Second to none for what, appearance? you can get better lines elsewhere, their futures don't even touch the hilton in most cases.......weekends(ie nfl sunday) is a nightmare, space is not big enough gets real crowded and long lines, just saying their are much better options in Vegas

Try Paris, Ny/NY, IMperial Palace or Bally's if you want reasonable and on the strip.

I don't think you can find 9/6 JoB at any Harrahs owned property unless it's a $5 and up machine.

Bellagio book is great...when it's not crowded.

I'm really shocked at the Bellagio story...I've never stayed there, but I can't imagine any casino in the world which wouldn't roll out the red carpet for $500 players. Hell, I know a guy who's a $100/hand BJ bettor and he's shown me some of the comp offers he's gotten from them in the mail. Something must have gone really wrong that weekend, obviously. Did you introduce yourself to a casino host, etc?

Only since I moved to LA do I get to Vegas 3-4 times per year, and I'm just starting to learn about the world of comps. I'm nowhere near a big enough player to even get rated at the big palaces (maybe $25/hand BJ bettor if I'm on a roll). But that level of play has been good enough to get me discounted rooms through Harrahs in the mail...they're usually well below sticker price (most weekdays would be free and I could get weekend rooms for under $100/night at most Harrah's properties).
