You're giving these players in Step 6's way too much credit for having a hand. How can you possibly fold AK Suited in this spot to a raise to 500 with blinds at 100/200? What hand are you waiting for exactly? If your goal is to just make 6th or 5th place money then fine fold away. But if you expect to win a WSOP seat don't play scared poker.

I agree....bad fold....should've re-raised.

the hand w/ the 99 I didn't want to jeapordize most of my chips on a coinflip (I imagine at best I have a coinflip).

The AKs I just had a really bad feeling....i know it is stupid to play poker on feel (esp since I'm playing with scared money). But he did the same raise the previous hand UTG+1 and showed KK. I figured UTG with the same raise very next hand is suicide unless he has something good. In my mind he had a pocket pair (coinflip if QQ and under, fucked if AA or KK) or AK/AQ....the only hand I'm really beating is AQ....everything else is coinflip or death. I showed a buddy and he said I'm retarded for folding that.....stupid fold...but it ended up being a $1,000 fold!

Had my QQ held up, I wanna believe I would've had a good chance at 3rd....then a little luck would've put me back in contention....I play the steps like a *** as proved

The 99 hand I agree with cause in all likelihood you're right (Coin Flip). Sure there's an outside chance you might be in great against someone pushing with a lower PP but with your chipstack at that point you still had plenty of time to avoid a flip. Anyways best of luck with future ones.:toast:

You are crushing that guys range with 99, he can very likely have Ax, lower pairs and whatnot.

yeah....i guess the guy was shortstack and his range opens up a bit.

I remember in the back of my head the two fears I had was:

1) Shit, if I lose this, I'm shortstack and 2 away from the money
2) I'm pretty early, what if someone else has a hand

LOL at the low limit tourney guy playing $2,100 buyins....

for me, level's 1 and 2 are the grind.....from level 3 and up, all you need is 5th place (I think even 6th on level 5) to stay in the circle of levels 3-5.

I've gotten rivered quite a few times (In fact, see above as I exit level 6) but keep on grinding...eventually you win a few and move up to the next level (or the other guy dominates and you can ride his coattails)....just gotta do that 2 or 3 times and you are in level 6.

Not too bad considering there is no additional costs to keep trying (as long as you dont end up 6th-9th)
