I am, and was curious to see who else may be. I would like to invest in some more down the line and would like to know some that are successful and some that are not.

I do stuff on eBay. I'm only just starting out, but it's going well. Not too difficult. Pick a product you know, find out who makes it in China (because its ALL made in China), make a large order and then sell it on eBay. That's basically what I've done and it's going well and fun too. Total investment has been under 2 dimes but I could certainly invest more if I wanted to.

I already replied in the other thread....

What is your business?

ya i saw that reply, but thought it would be interesting to start a thread with that topic.

I own a tanning salon. Living in central New York they are very much needed, and I bought into a successful one that was already established. Got a great break since the previous owner was an older lady and wanted to retire. It's the largest privately owned tanning salon in the region.

i have a friend who does this and does pretty well for himself. He charges me 10% to sell stuff and do it all the time.

Funny, I actually almost bought into one of those with a buddy in Philly, but he changed his mind about it. I know very little as I was only going to supply the capital. How is the business? Do you need to always upgrade beds and shit? I got to think that you can pay a hot chick minimum wage to take care of the place and you do not have to be hands on. Do you sell memberships or just per visit? Do they have laws up there about minors?

The wife and I own a beauty salon. She runs it completely,I don't get involved at all (although I wish she'd let me interview young prospective cosmotoligists for potential hire). She has eight ladies and the mandatory gay fella that works there. It does ok, nothing fantastic.

The business is great. I doubt I would have opened up a new, but the one I got into was open for 24 years and very successful.
We have 25 beds and try to get 2 new ones every year or so just to keep things fresh. The most important thing is changing the bulbs on time since that is what gives people the good color is new bulbs.
We have all sorts of memberships. Individual visits, packages that can be used whenever that don't expire, or weekly, monthly, and yearly unlimited specials.
They do have some laws that you have to be at least 14 to tan, but we are pretty loose. I try to work a lot because I want to cut down on payroll expense. Trust I see enough hot young chicks everyday where I don't need to hire a hot young whore to work. Life is pretty good I cant complain

25 fucking beds? Good for you!! Most of them around here have like 15 at the very most.

How much does a bed/bulb cost?

I have an accounting practice, not a bad gig, no overhead.

My buddy and I have been talking about running a strip joint, that might be pretty cool. I would just have to be the behind the scenes guy.

Also looking at a trailer business (retail sales). Know somebody that wants to retire, but it will cost big bucks and a lot of time.

own a sports forum..... mostly for fun. For the most part it just takes work, not too much money to start out.

Beds can range anywhere from 7- 30k.. Most of ours are in the middle of that, with a few more expensive beds. It costs anywhere between 200-700 for new bulbs which are needed every 500 hrs of running time.

I am a restaurantuer. It fucking sucks.

what sucks if you don't mind me asking....

I have a client who owns a very upscale popular restaraunt in SF, in 10 years or so he claims he has not made a penny (but not lost any) - he says all it is good for is being able to get a table without waiting

another client owns a chain of successful mexican restaraunts (not franchises) and the places just print money.....sounds like the biz is hit and miss
