LMAO
Apparently the Rays aren't a team to be fucked with.
Pitch wasn't even high and he probably deserved more than that after his bs slide last night.

agreed, would have loved it had shields landed the punch. coco would have been knocked the fcuk loco, he talked way too much shit last night for this not to happen. they'll be in tampa in 3 weeks and i for one am looking forward to the series.

Tough times tonight for DRays.

I was following the game via the miracle of my Walkman, and the Rays radio team was fairly persuaded that Crisp's attacking the mound was premeditated and calculated to get TB ace Jimmy Shields tossed from the game along with him.

Both teams had pregame warnings from the umpiring crew and Shields had already plunked Pedroia in the first inning, though it was clearly unintentional.

The HBP on Crisp did appear deliberate, hitting him low and offspeed.

That might have been enough to get Shields tossed, but Crisp assured it by charging the mound and getting the fight going.

If Im crisp, im glad he threw at my hip and not my head or upper body. I take 1st. Crisp is a bitch. I get a kick out of how the Red Sox organization behaves exactly like the Yankees have for years, yet they criticize them so heavily. Same goes for the fans.

This from a neutral fan,

Too bad you "just saw" the highlights. I seen the whole thing as it happened. If anything, shields is a bitch cause his punch didn't connect and coco's punch did.

If by connect you mean, "grazed his shoulder," then yes, it connected, as did Shields' second punch.

shields is the bitch threw the first punch, a haymaker, and missed by a mile. If crisp had a few more seconds with that goon he would have dropped him. gomes is a bigger bitch throwing punches at crisp when he was pinned down.

Scott Shields at 6'4" 214 lbs misses with a haymaker to head of 6' 180 LB Coco Crisp.

Of course the Red Sox scoring four runs on three hits (including Manny Ramirez's 13th. homer of the year, and a double by JD Drew) in the top of the first off Shields had nothing to do with it.

Johnny Gomes. 6'1" 225 lbs piles on a prone Crisp and punches him while he is down.

Tampa Bay Rays' Jonny Gomes (center) raises his fist to hit Boston Red Sox's Coco Crisp who lies on the ground beneath Rays catcher Dioner Navarro in the second inning. The Rays' Akinori Iwamura is on the right. Gomes is batting just .222 on the year and is just 2-for-10 in his last six games.

Another class act by Gomes.

Gomes cocked his arm as Rays catcher Dioner Navarro held Crisp on the ground and in a head lock.

i watched the locker room show after the game in which crisp tried to take out the short stop, he talked a huge amount of smack and if i had half a brain i'd have bet the shit out of boston knowing the likelihood of shields getting tossed. stupid ass me.

What Crisp should have done is accepted the pitch around his waist is part of the game, accepted first base, and none of this would have happened.

*All* the blame is on Crisp.

Navarro tackles Crisp as Jonny Gomes rushes in looking calm and collected.

anyone else think this is "good" for baseball? i like a heated rivalry, it'll add to my interest when they meet up in tampa. i think the more serious situation for the red sox was manny backhanding and then shoving youkilus in the dugout, will this have a long term impact? Wil can you post some pictures of that as well?

Both parties in the wrong in my opinion.

For the Drays(Maddon in particular) to cry about the slide by Crisp is very lame, this is not golf/tennis or poker.

For Crisp to charge the mound on a pitch thrown at his knees is also very lame.......Shields did him a favor in my opinion.

All in all, the whole thing is getting to much press, just play the game and in the final analyisis all that matters is the SCOREBOARD.
