The Rx.com is very happy to be able to announce the venue for this year's Rx Bash 2008 will be held at The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in downtown Las Vegas on the weekend of August 15th and 16th..

I will post further details and an itinerary during the next several days. The Golden Nugget has undergone a significant facelift since the last time we had our Bash there in 2005. Now plusher and more luxurious than ever The Golden Nugget will make for a great venue of Rxers who plan on attending Rx Bash 2008.

Golden Nugget website..

Please do not call the Nuggett yet, I will post a Q. and A. thread next week, plus all the information you will need to reserve your comped rooms..

I am going to lock this thread because I want to have all of the details before answering questions or posting further details.

Personally I am very happy we are going back to The Golden Nugget and am very confident Rx Bash 2008 will be a great time for all who attend..

Thanks, wil...

hahahaha! You didn't lock this thread after all, so here I am in your cyber kitchen with a question for you to be sure to include in your forthcoming FAQ list pertaining to the 2008 Bash

If I want to upgrade my generously comped Rx room for the two nights in question, I presume I simply take it up with the GNugget and they will then charge me the appropriate rate less the "average" for Rx-comped rooms?

Looking to get the multi-person spa tub gimmick going for me and SheBar

Who says you can't go home again?

For those that haven't been around since the stone age of the "intranets" or at least as long as Wilheim was born, the Rx in its embryonic stages had its inaugural bashes downtown at the Nugget.

Sans porn stars, the glitz of the Strip, and elevators that took eternity, the "jewel of Downtown" was the Rx's Vegas unofficial home away from home.

Despite numerous ownership baton tosses and various renovations, the Golden Nugget remains a constant as the class of Old Vegas.

Looking forward to renewing old friendships and starting new ones here again in August. As your unofficial drunken host, I hope to show you this town has more to offer than just gambling and whores. (Wait, it does?)

WIL, what is the minimum level of RxForum participation needed to qualify for a comped room?

Asking on behalf of some of our members who have been frequent visitors for a year or less and maybe don't do a lot of posting.

ahhhh nice to see that therx will be going to a hotel owned by a fellow Houstonian:toast:

Tillman Fertitta was born and raised in Galveston, Texas where his family had settled generations prior after emigrating from Sicily.
Tillman Fertitta studied at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and at the University of Houston where he studied business and hotel management. He showed an entrepreneurial streak even in college when he started his own firm focused on marketing and sales and after college development and construction. From there Fertitta began building homes while selling Shaklee vitamins on the side. He moved full-time into foodservice in 1986 working as a real estate specialist for Landry's. It was only a few short months before he bought the chain.
After some early troubles Fertitta expanded the chain to include nearly a dozen restaurant chains and individual entities. He is a minor partner in the Houston Texans NFL franchise and owns Houston's Bentley and Rolls Royce dealership, Post Oak Motor Cars, Ltd.

His family includes Sam and Rosario Maceo who rose from humble beginnings to become prominent in Galveston's notorious nightlife scene in the mid-1900s before branching out to Las Vegas, Nevada. His cousins are Station Casinos owners Frank Fertitta III and Lorenzo Fertitta. Tilman Fertitta recently joined the ranks of casino owners himself when Landry's purchased the historic Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas as well as the location in Laughlin, Nevada.

Wil told me a few mins ago to qualify for comped rooms you need a min of 6987 posts with 22.6% of them being 3 paragraphs or longer. in lieu of the 3 Paragraph's min., to qualify if the thread is judged as being " Longwinded" or "Over boring" by a moderator you can get in by default:toast:

I knew there was a way I could get in by default, right Dante? LOL! Why use a sentence if a paragraph works just as well?
