How about Lou Boudreaux of Cleveland Indians in 1948. Shortstop, MVP & manager of the Indians led them to their last Worls Seies Championship.
He batted .355 2nd to Williams that year & hit 18HRS while striking out only 9 times.
Boston & Cleveland tied that year so they had a 1 game playoff. I think Cleveland won the playoff 8-3. In that game Boudreaux went 5 for 5 with 2 HRS.
It was the last time Cleve won the World Series 60 years ago, & in the game that decided the pennent he won it singlehandedly. No athlete could match that.

ok, if you're arguement were true, golf is still a competition like any other sport, and making things happen when you absolutely have to time and time again with no surprise, makes you the definition of clutch.
