Deciding whether to purchase a Wii or a PS3. I know the reviews were mixed when the PS3 first came out. Any thoughts? What is the difference between the two?

Are you a kid or an adult? Are there kids around the house at all? WII is definately a kids toy in my opinion, fun as hell but hard to play while smoking and drinking.

i'm not a big gamer at all. i hardly every play video games anymore, but i am totally hooked on mariocart of nintendo wii. the only 3 games i have played the past 10 yrs have been madden, halo, and mariocart and i must say mariocart is the most addicting game i have seen.

ps3 has a bluray that you get for free that comes with it. that system should cost over 1,000 dollars and you can get it for 400.
i loved ps2, still deciding on ps3 or 360 myself. leaning ps3

Brock, how is the situation with 360's and the Ring of Death? Is it still happening much?

I've never enjoyed playing a video game my entire life until the Nintendo Wii came out. Used to buy my kids all the other systems over the years and could never get into any of the games. The Wii is a completely different animal. The bowling is so fun we have leagues set up at our house and even the neighbors come over and play. Tiger Woods Golf is incredible too. Closest thing to being out on the course or at the alley. Probably have 20 of the games and the kids love them all as well. You can even get a bootleg version for around $150 for the system and $10 a game if you know someone who's into that stuff. Highly recommend it. Why else would the machines be so hard to get for a time being?
You wont be dissapointed.

XBOX 360 > PS3

I wouldn't compare Wii vs. either...it is more of an interactive....better for younger kids, girls, and older people....if you are a gamer, xbox360

Wii is a toy. I never understood why so many people like them. As for the PS3, I have to agree that it has been a disappointment so far, although it is getting much better IMO. I really like the 360, although mine suffers from the "ring of death" and has not been able to play it for some time.

I would say : 1) XBOX 360
2) PS3
3) Wii

There isn't a versus there. Apple v Oranges.

What do you want to use it for?
Who is going to be playing it?

If *you* are going to be playing it, I presume you should see what games you like and are available. Wii has an entirely different library/genre of games than XBox360/PS3.

Young kids and/or yourself wasting a very small amount of free time, get a Wii. Games are fun, no learning curve, no huge time investment required. Wii Sports is fun, as is the whole Mario genre.

Teenagers, and/or yourself wasting hours, get a XBox360 or PS3. Graphics are great, games take hours to learn and hours upon hours to complete.

As for XBox 360 versus PS3, each have a few exclusive titles (XBox 360 has more, like GTA IV); PS3 has firmware updatable Blue-Ray player.

I will have all 3 systems.

Wii is played by my 5 year old, and is the only thing I play (given my maximum time investment isn't more than 30 minutes an evening). The cousins play it when visiting, it's great fun. Connected to a 21" Tube in the game room, would like to buy another 32" LCD for it.

XBox 360 is played by my 12 and 15 year old. They waste time "beating" games; I could never sit in a chair that long unless I am working. Connected to a 32" LCD wallmounted in the game room.

PS3 is on order to serve as a Blue Ray player in the living room. Kids can play it only before adults wake up. Connected to 50" Plasma.

BTW, I bought the XBox 360 Arcade (only cost $280, no HDD). I am waiting for Microsoft to release some bigger hard drives and drop the prices; I can't fathom paying $180 more for a puny 120GB XBox HDD when that is more than the market price for 750GB drives.

Damn, I've been playing GTA IV on my PS3 for 2 months and nobody told me I wasn't allowed to

Which shows you how much I pay attention to XBox/PS3 stuff. I got the XBox 360 first cuz the kids wanted to play Halo 3, which is exclusive to it.

still an issue, its the way they place the processor in the 360 itself. It is a very easy fix and im not talking about the towels wrapped around it. That will destroy your unit. If you have one get my email from a mod and i can walk you through fixing one. It will cost you about 15 bux including tools.30 mins of your time.
