heres the scoop. i got an interview coming up for a part time job at UPS. i know they do criminal record checks. i had a charge in 1983 when i took pop's car. it sure the hell won't come up as..taking vehicle without owners consent. should show as "theft over 5000$.

I ended up with no record(??) as it was 6 months probation..conditional discharge. i went for a pardon a few years back thru the RCMP. never got a pardon, but they told me the record is in archives. talked to a cop and he said he doesn't know if it will show up or not on UPS criminal record check.

I have a full time job so it's not like i'm gonna be really pissed if i don't get the position. I figure just tell him the truth and take it from there. Don't want to look like a bullshitter if i say..no..and than he finds it. Theft over 5000$ isn't a good thing to have on your record. anyone know about UPS policies??

if you tell them straight up your screwed. Best thing to do is hope they dont find out. In that field they will not touch anyone with a theft record regardless of the situation.Fed ex the same way they are strict.

Even though you got probation it will show up on your record as an arrest, unless of course you were under the age of 17. I am not familiar with UPS policies but it's been so long that I really wouldn't worry about it. Just be truthfull.

I guess it depends on his situation. If this is a job he really needs or wants then I would be honest about it. If it's something just for some extra spending money then lie about it and take a chance.

right. the thing is i wonder why the RCMP never cleared it in the first place. maybe because theres another way about it that costs money. rcmp never got no cash, so they left it as is?? who knows.

i could go down to the cop shop and get a copy of my record for 40$ to see if it's there. i think it will be on it too. in 1999 i was going to memphis to run the marathon and they checked me out at the airport and found it. 600$ plane ticket in the garbage. the big question lie or be honest?? lie and look like a fool even though it don't matter. or tell the truth and not get the job anyway. decisions..decisons.

I'm sure for a fee you could check your record online.

I'm not sure how it works in Canada, but if you charged as a juvenile-it wouldn't be on your record in the US.
