I've always been curious as to what people would do. I think I would try to get down to dugout and yell at him if he wants his HR ball back. And ask if I could get an autographed ball in return. what would you guys do?

Exchange it with the player- they usually give you a BUNCH of shit, including auto'd bats, jerseys, tickets, etc. IT makes it eaasier if it is a class act like Junior, though. If it is someone who you despise, you gotta look after yourself. If I ever got anything from Bonds, it would be auctioned for money.

Wow, I didn't know that. I actully thought about this question when Manny hit his 500th. I was thinking what a cool thing for whoever caught that to give it back. I would sell myself short then, I was thinking an autographed ball would be nice!

yeah I've read plenty of stories where the players are more than generous. something as valuable to the player as that ball can easily be exchanged for that- the jerseys, bats, and tickets they get for nothing, and obviously the autograph is no work for them. they are getting something that means a lot to them, and giving away what is not that important to them but would make any fan very appreciative

Maybe its because I used to cover sports and have been in the locker room a million times, but trust me it would not be worth it imo.

I would get as much cash for it as possible..Look at it like its an inheritance or an investment...Screw giving it back these guys make enough money if they want it cough up 200k for it. That would be like 200 bucks to us

I think it depends on the persons situation. I wouldn't expect someone that could really use the money to give it back, and it's understandable that they would want to sell it to improve their life.

I personally would give it back for something like tickets/bats etc., especially to a guy like Jr. Of coarse I could use the money I would get for selling it, but I'm not in any desperate need for it and these balls typically mean a lot to the players. They worked hard to achieve a very difficult accomplishment and I think they deserve it.

I have a ball, I've always wanted one of those nice bats hehe - not sure why anyone would want to keep something that means so much more to someone else

Money. I personally would give it to the guy, but the reason most would keep it instead of giving it back is because they can sell it for a good amount of money.

A lot of fans don't like how much money these guys make either, so they really wouldn't feel bad about keeping a baseball that meant a lot to them. Again, not saying I agree with that, but that is the feeling of a lot of fans.
