One thing I don't understand about Big Brown and Triple Crown

I've been watching a lot of the Big Brown aftermath coverage. Here's the thing I don't understand about all of this: Big Brown is NOT the only horse in recent memory that has had a shot at the Triple, but he seems to be the one with the highest expectations going into it and the most post-race coverage - WHY?

The media coverage (both previous to the race and now) seem to have forgotten that the Triple Crown is special for a reason. It's SUPPOSED to be hard! It's SUPPOSED to be something that DOES NOT happen every year or every time a horse has a shot at it. All this post-race coverage is starting to border on ridiculous because people (the media and general public) can't seem to accept that we're not going to have a Triple Crown winner every year.:think2:

it is is hard and getting harder......BB was the best chance on paper for a triple crown winner in decades......silver charm had touch gold real quiet had victory gallop even smarty jones had more competition on paper than BB did........the thoroughbred is becoming a less durable and sound animal over time......we need to find new bloodlines to tap i.e. south american mares or we may never see another triple crown winner in our lifetime..........breed has become so watered down with all the inbreeding(obvioulsy attempting to pair together great horses which makes sense) but it has weakened the breed to the point where the triple crown is not attainable
