Isn't PSA known as the industry leader? Looking at a Jordan rookie gem mint 10 graded by Beckett for $1,000. How much do they go for in the market? been out of the card market for a long time and thinking of investing my money in graded rookies.

I think PSA is the best. But I think Beckett is also pretty reliable. I don't think you can go wrong with a gem mint 10 from Beckett.

worst case scenario is PSA grades it 9.5 or so right?

BGS grading is the leader, PSA clear second.

PSA only grades in whole numbers while BGS does half increments, thus BGS is more accurate and seemingly more respected.

I will give you $1500 for a Fleer Jordan Rookie Gem Mint 10 if this is legit....you make a quick $500...i think it sells for much higher than $1000 although I haven't collected cards in over a decade

I remember Tuff Stuff was so out of whack with their card prices compared to Beckett's but hell when you only had $5 left to buy a guide and you wanted all sports in one, Tuff Stuff was where it was at!

We might have to talk later if that's the case.

EBay will give you a better idea of the worth than a Beckett guide, especially on newer stuff.

I buy and sell cards through the local auction houses in the Tampa/St. Pete area.

Been able to sell most of the junk I've accumulated over the years for much more than it's worth.

When purchasing, I buy in lots and break the cards up and sell them in sublots, this is the way to fairly easy money.

To answer your question, I still regard PSA as the leader in card grading. To be honest though, really haven't kept up that close on the industry to make this an absolute claim. In the timeframe of 5-10 years ago, they were certainly #1 in my book.

Getting back to buying in lots, bought a 200 card lot of Boggs cards on ebay for 7.80.........sold a 15 card lot of these for 20 bucks at the auction house (25% commission),so in theory I've got 185 different Boggs cards as gravy to sell at a later date. :)

You can flip some nice cards that way. Where you are, BoSox and Yankees are king.

Boggs is from Tampa.......and beings he played for the Yanks, Bosox, and Rays.......makes his cards very popular here.

The most poplular athlete in this neck of the woods is Mike Alstott..............people pay good money for basically worthless crap of him.

There is no way you have a bgs 10 jordan fleer rookie.

It'd be worth at least 25k.

A 9.5 with 2 (10) subgrades is worth around $7500. A standard bgs 9.5 with all 9.5 subgrades is worth 5 dimes.

No way is anybody offering you a bgs 10 jordan for a dime unless they are stoned or it's a fake. LOL. Maybe it's a 1987? or 1988?

The Jordan RC is a red bordered card.

If it's a psa 10, thats similar to a bgs 9. Much more of a possibility. Still worth at least 5 dimes on the low side.

Only one jordan rookie graded a BGS 10 and it is worth more than 25k there are 101 graded BGS 9.5. Becareful it is not a BCCG10 which is also by becket but that is a bulk grade not a real grade BCCG 10 i have cracked and submited have come back as low as a BGS7. So buyer beware. Beckett is highly respected in the industry and the BGS 9.5 and BGS 10 sell for more than any PSA10 for sure. Not that i would pass up a PSA 10 Jordan rookie at the right price.

I am a expert on Jordan rookie cards...I have 5 of them myself and have watched over 3000 auctions from ebay to auction houses sell numerous jordan including about 9 BGS 9.5's ...one with a .5 away from 10 subgrade which would make it a 10 overall..

First off..

No way in hell does he have the one in only exsistance BGS 10....it is probably a BCCG 10 which is what poster above alerted u to.

SO first off u have a BCCG 10 not a Beckett Grading 10.

Now u have to look at price and rarity of BCCG 10...there isnt 1...there is 100s...probably 1000s.....BCCG is considered 2nd tier in the marketplace and is about as valueable as a PRO grading or something similiar in nature.

HOWEVER it is still better then most and is definitly 100% authentic...but through psa or BGS u would be lucky to grade a 8 or near there...so look at prices there...

Price Guides

BCCG is equivlent on a good day to PSA 7or8 and BGS 7or8.5 (give or take 1/2 grade) so $ range is $ 525-1000 max

The one thing I disagree about is one person said a PSA 10 is a BGS 9.

That is totally false.

PSA has been leader in sports cards for non-vintage for a long time.
.....in the past 5-7 years BGS has become the leader in some areas for its tuff grading criteria plus it has 4 qualifiers and a .5 point differential so 10's can be 9.5's etc etc.

The reason why the BGS jordan is worth 25K - infinity is because there is no market other than that card....therefore owner can set his own price a buyer is willing to pay.

The PSA 10's jordans are not nearly as few as BGS 10 and that is why the BGS is worth more..but the PSA 10's have still went for 15K+ on a great day.

BGS 9.5 will go for 2K-6K depending on qualifiers (corners/centering..etc)

and a PSA 9 will go for 1K -1800 at peak.

What im saying is this.

THE BGS has 1 - BGS 10
The PSA has 15 (lets say this number..i am unsure of total count..its on psa site if registered)
The BCCG has anywhere between 350-800+ (not recorded on internet.)

So obviously the card is severely overgraded with that company.

Hopefully it is a BCCG 10 and u havent purchased it yet...u can jus refuse the offer as one can be bought for 600-700 from psa or BGS on a diff grade but same card.

If its a BGS 10 then u better call beckett or goto website and make sure that it is the one card made and graded by them with same serial number, and then make sure u arent breaking the law somehow (stolen goods..etc)

Goodluck with ur search.....and i am always here for questions/concerns about cards....they are a love of mine and I have many of them...
