Getting ready to go with a friend, just curious as to what your guys opinion is... I was gonna take 50 bucks down to gamble a little bit.. Is it putting me at a huge disadvantage only taking this much money or am I saving myself from losing more from those bad beat **** suckers

Most people buy in for $100 at that level, but if you win the first hand you see all the way to the river you should be fine for a few hours as long as you don't get involved in a big kill pot.

I go down with this amount often. Sometimes I win 300, sometimes Im out the door in 5 minutes. Sometimes I take more and lose more... sometimes I take more and lose 80-100 then get it back plus more. Just wondering what your thoughts are people... 15 minutes till im outta here!:toast:

sounds like you know what your limits are, go and have some fun win or lose. at today's prices that's about the same as taking a date out to a movie, you get to hang at the casino and have some fun gambling.

I would think you got better odds at a $1/2 game. But you can do it if they let you i would think $100 would be a minium buy in for $3/6. Get you a free sandwich and a brownie and a couple of beer for free while you play. Then your way ahead for the day.

If you do it often why are you asking other people if it puts you at a disadvantage? Another dumbass question=100 Units.

$1/2 max is a much better level for that kind of roll. Nothing sucks like starting short stacked.

Those ATM fee $8-15 will wipe out your roll in no time.

Remember, he said Limit where it really doesn't matter how much you have at the table, you SHOULD be able to cover a capped session on every street though which means I would say 72 at least if my math doesn't suck

i take $160 to a 3-6 game. with just $50, your first 2 hands could be a couple of missed draws & you are basically done. if that's okay with you, then fine. but if i get showered, dressed, and drive to the casino i gotta take more than $50 to play 3-6. if i lose the $160, i'm done, i'm kinda on tilt by then anyways.

3/6 limit at a casino isn't poker. It is more like bingo.

It is like no fold 'em hold 'em. Played 4-8 limit in Biloxi a few times, it's unreal how bad they play. About 75% of the time there was no muck until after the flop. Long time ago it was only quarters at Seminole in Tampa, they played worse in Biloxi than those people did.

BTW, I know some folks will argue with me about it but you can make money at those levels, even playing limit. Not enough to make a living perhaps but enough to subsidize a retirement check and so on. Very hard at those limits as the rake becomes a huge factor, but they play it so bad you can do it. Most with a clue are playing NL, lot of fisheys play only limit these days.

From the tiny acorn grows the mighty oak. Back in the olden days, one of my associates was dead broke. He borrowed $39 and got in
the $3-6. He tore that up and went on to $10-20. He clobbered that
and moved onto pot limit. Within 30 hours he was up $30,000.
This was enough to buy a house with back then. In the end, he blew it all on drugs and gambling.
True story.

The players are so bad that as long as you play limit in a profitable manor and expect to occasionally get sucked out on your big hands you can do well. I just went and played 3/6 last night and took home 120 which wasn't a great score, but considering I was down to 50 bucks and left with 320 I was happy. I just couldn't hit any draw and my big hands were getting cracked but you just have to hope eventually the percents come in your favor and they finally did and I won some big pots with people who were more than happy to pay a capped street with middle pair
