Johnny Lynn defensive back for the Jets played for UCLA. I went to Eliot Jr. High with him played flag football with him he was our QB. During an in team scrimmage, I was playing Defensive End, Lynn came around my corner on an option he was looking at the running back to pitch and I blind sided him, knocked his ass out, I felt bad almost got kicked off the team for being too rough.
Year after that at Marshall Jr High Michael Cooper(played for the Lakers) and I had a Social Studies class together,we would shoot paper wads at the trash can in the corner when the teacher would turn his back to us to write on the blackboard. Coop hadn't blossomed athletically and I would always beat him badly. He asked me how I was so good, I told him the secret was to point your elbow at the target and then extend your arm through the the shot with your index finger pointing out the target and the end, a straight shot always, About 10 years later Coop broke the NBA Finals record for 3 point shooting. I believe I played a part in that, there should have been an asterisk next to that record with my name on it.
I forgot back to Eliot, Alan Wiggins played baseball for the San Diego Padres. He was a little 7th grader when i was in the 8th grade. Alan used to have this little white spot in his Fro where the hair was colorless. He was in my graphics arts class and we used to spend our time making rubber stamps that said fuck you, eat me, suck my dick bitch etc you know typical Jr high guy stuff. Alan was jumped by a group Chicano homies after class who were making fun of his spot. I was able to intervene, break it up and told them to fight fair, one at a time. They did and Alan kicked the snot out of 3 of them before they gave up. I was his big 8th grade friend.
Those 3 guys shot up in height and went Pro. I never broke 5'9".
